After editing my Aircraft cfg. I get a message saying ACCESS DENIED! when I try to save my changes. Does anyone have any idea why I am getting this message?

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Right click on the aircraft.cfg, then click on Properties. Make sure the Read-only box beside Attributes is not ticked. And just below that, if the tab to the right of Security: says Unblock, click on it and unblock it. Let us know if that fixes it.  Smiley

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Have you tried making a copy of the original and editing that one also which program you using to edit the cfg for some reason on my  system (Win7 64 ultimate) FSX editing doesn't like wordpad so I use only notepad?

also have you tried to turn of your UAC?  start button/search (type in  UAC) and try reducing it all the way down and finally ahave you got Administrators rights?

Best way to deal with this, is go to the Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder, right-click (on that folder) and select properties from the menu.

Then go to the Security Tab and click the "Edit" button where it says "To change permissions, click Edit".

On the next tab, look for Users(Your Username\Users)

Click that and you will see some of the boxes below get ticks in them. Make sure all the boxes in the Allow column have ticks in them, then click OK... then wait for quite a while.

This will give you (as a user) full permissions to modify the files in the Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder (and all folders below that). It's a pain without this, it really is. After doing this, you will be able to modify any file in that folder, so it makes editing, repainting etc... far easier.

Just remember though that you now have the power to cause irreversible damage to files, so take care what you edit.

If you don't want to risk all that, just move the .cfg file to your desktop, edit it, and then move it back.

wafu448 you got it man.Turned out to be the simplest thing on the list.I tried everything else before I made a copy on the desktop. It saves no questions asked. No problem re-integrating back into FSX folder.THank you and thanks to everyone else who tried to help!
