G'day guys,

Another silly question - with my new computer, I've noticed more "spikes" in performance - usually when ATC is about to say something, or I change views, I get a "jolt" in performance which is small, yet annoying.  I don't recall my last rig did this as much.

Is it a RAM thing?  Normally, I run on 55-60 FPS, details all maxed and have no problems, but still get "spikes" in performance when ATC speaks, or changing views.

My Rig:
Intel Quad Core i7 CPU @ 3.33 Ghz
6 Gig of RAM
2x Nvidea GTX 275 in SLI
Windows 7 64 bit
HDD 290 GB free iof 279 GB

Cheers
Stew

Have you done any experiments after reducing your sliders from their "maxed" settings to see if the problem is still there?

That is the first thing I would try - as even though you have a hefty computer you still may be asking too much of it.

Worth a try?

You have quite a rig there! Have you installed the SP1? also, is the spikes on a clean installation - no addons? It could be that one of your addons didn't install correctly??
all a suggestion! and a matter of trial and error   Cool

The very first thing I would do would be to lock my Frame Rate to 25 FPS at the most. (Anything higher is probably being wasted)

This would prevent the system from struggling to catch up with a 50-60/Unlimited Frame Rate resulting in regular hiccups!

A "Smooth" Frame Rate is to be aimed for.
