Thought I would have a quick bash at this... Took me longer to get the plane at the right angle with the camera than it did to edit it together.  Grin

Just for reference, the main aircraft and background were from a single shot, straight from the game, no posing or slewing involved (just lots of trial and error).

The rear plane was captured, tweaked etc to fit. Then bits of additions thrown in for good measure.

Great job! I tried, just for fun, to replicate the picture and I found it very challenging. The fact that the entries are this good is pretty cool! I'll probably use a little easier picture for the next contest.

To be honest, it was the challenging aspect that got me interested but it's also going to put a lot of people off. Not everyone is happy with compositing, drawing effects etc... I just wish I would have had more time to spend on it, but it was good fun.

The only things that I found a bit tedious was trying to replicate the camera by moving the viewpoint out and then zooming the camera in, to simulate the foreshortening. You only actually find out if it is right when you've started up the engines, waited... for quite a while... then got to the take off point, only to realise that the angle/position/zoom is wrong.

So maybe something still with a bit of a challenge, but slightly less in the visual effects stakes. The multiple planes was good, and that's failry easy to deal with. Maybe something involving some of the free scenery that's available, updated airport, that kind of thing. I find it hard to work out what scenery is worth using, so this would encourage people to expand their scenery library.

Was this the competition that generated the least interest in the history of Simviation?... 2 entries. Sad
