Just re installed fs2004 to my windows 7 32... game runs great.. perfectly infact, however adding scenery seems to be hit and miss, some work some just can't be added i get to the sceney and texture part click on scenery and a blank window opens... i know some FSX users say you just have to click in the white box but that does'nt work with me? any ideas?

Thanks

This link shows visually how to do it:

Have you tried turning off User Account Control (UAC) prior to attempting the method described in the link I suggested?

It is not a FS2004 issue - it is a Win 7 "bug".

FYI - The "experts" now seem to agree that turning off UAC permanently is not the best thing to do.

It apparently is better to log on to the computer as the administrator. Right click on the \Flight Simulator 9\ folder -> select Properties. Go to the Security tab and set the security for the Users group to Full Control."

Repeat this with every folder you have flight sim stuff in (that isn't a subfolder of one you already did), if necessary.

And always run FS as Adminstrator.

Doing the above apparently allows FS and any associated programs to make changes as needed without running afoul of the security safegaurds.

Is it advisable to reinstall FS9 with Windows 7? If so, does the reinstall overwrite the former installation or should one uninstall before the new installation?

Ref windows 7 and scenery files. You might Google "software compatibility for windows 7" and follow their instructions.
