Landing lights not showing (Read 845 times)

Even though I have "aircraft landing-lights illuminate ground" turned on, they aren’t illuminating the ground.

EDIT: The landing lights on all of my add-on A/C work fine.

Would running Repair off the DVD help?

what addons have you installed lately? I bet one of them changed a file that the default aircraft call for, and that is why the lights no longer illuminate the ground.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post, that when I did a complete uninstall of Revised FSX Lights (to see if that would fix it), the landing lights on the default A/C where replaced by black circles.

Have you also tried a System Restore after the uninstall to make sure that your registry and other files are in the state they were prior to your problem?

Your problem lies in the file nammed SPOTLIGHT.BMP, located in the FSX\texture folder.
You have replaced it with a file from FS9 (or FSX SP1), which is not compatible.
But you can change that.
Open the file with DXTBMP,
- create an Alpha Channel (black),
- send Alpha to editor
- in the editor, make the picture completely white. Completely !
- save in the editor (just "save", not "save as")
- close the editor, get back in DXTBMP
- refresh Alpha
- save as, select extended bipmap, DXT1 (not "DXT1 (No Alpha)" ), and save.
Your problem should be solved.

Wouldn't it be easier for someone to send me their spotlight.bmp?

If that's not possible, could you please give the for dummies translation of the steps, I didn't understand one thing you said.

Just launch the program and you will understand.
I just can't write it any simpler, go through the menus and you'll see what I'm talking about Wink
