I recently downloaded an amazing F-14D Tomcat made by Steve Hinson, after i placed it in my aircraft folder (and gauges etc in correct folders) i tryed to fly the aircraft, without even beginning to load the flight, Fs simply crashed, i was wondering if anyone had any tips as to why this happened or any changes to make that would fix my problem.

Thanks

Can you provide a link to the package in question?

Perhaps I did not dig deep enough but the only one I saw was for FSX.

also read this thread that I posted a long time ago and then see if you have GAUGESOUND.DLL in your main FS9 folder.  (NOT in your FS9/Gauges... but just loose in the FS9 main folder.)

I just downloaded the F14D rev 4 file and installed it - no problems at all.

However, I did not unzip it to FS2004 - but unzipped it to a temporary folders first.  Glad I did as I see a couple of potential problems.

It would have installed an older version of FSUIPC and a different version of GaugeSound.dll than I already have. Of course I did not want that to happen so neither of those items were installed from the package.

I also did not want to clutter up my default gauges folder so placed the gauges directly into the aircraft's panel folder.

The effects did go into my Effects folder.  The aircraft folder (F14DTomcat) was then placed into my FS2004 Aircraft folder.

I should note that I have the following in my FS9.cfg file under the [OLDMODULES] label:

GaugeSound.dll=1

and that dll is in my Flight Simulator 9 folder - not in the Modules folder.

It all works just fine for me - no CTD's as the OP has reported.

Hope this helps.

I also have an F14D FINAL 412 (by steve) that I thought I had found here at SIMV a while back, but for some reason I can not locate it no matter how I search for it.

If anyone wants this craft as it was the last one that he made/updated for 2004, PM Me and I will give you a special link for it.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help, i was a bit naughty with this question as i e-mailed Grumpy1 about it at the same time i made this thread and had the problem fixed within a few days (i put the gauge sound into the effects folder not into the main FS9 folder).

Anyways, thanks for the help, hopefully this thread can be helpful to others having the same issue.  Smiley
