Well I take-off from MMMY and head towards MMTC. Itīs a 1 hour flight on RealAirīs SIAI Marchetti SF-260 and all is going well untill I get a little over half the distance when suddenly I start to loose manifold pressure. I also noticed a drop in fuel pressure as well and thus RPMīs. I click the auxiliary fuel pump but the RPMīs continue to drop until the engine is just about to die when suddenly, just as it started, the engine comes back to life again; full power.
I start to gain some altitude when it happened again. It went through the cycle described above like 6 or 7 times untill the engine composed itself and carried me all the way to the destination airport without a hicup.
This is the first time that this has ever happened. And I thought FSX was trouble free unless, ofcourse, you tell it to fail something in mid-flight.
Is RealAirīs SF-260 designed to fail from time to time? Iīm beginning to think that perhaps REX2 had something to do with it since this is my first flight since I installed REX.
I forgot to mention that at some point my ailerons ceased to function properly. It lasted only a few seconds and then it stopped. It happened only once.
Saludos.

what altitude were you flying at, or attempting to fly at?

I was cruising at 8,500ft. I descended to 6,500ft after the first trouble.

Yeap, I went straight through a snow storm.
Does RealAir simulate ice effect in the SF-260?

it should simulate it for all craft. I have NEVER experienced 'ice effect' on any craft even if i set the temp to -40F and fly at FL800 (80,000 feet AGL).

Just a thought. The RA Duke has this problem. Even though the airplane is fuel injected, FSX is still simulating Carb icing. You have to hit H and the engine comes back to life even though there is no carb, as a work around.

I took a closer look a the cockpit instruments and found an "Engine alternate air" knob which is the equivalent of a carburator heat in a fuel injected engine.
I other words, the engine alternate air is for the FI engine what the carburator heat is for the carburated engine.
I clicked on that knob and no more problems.
Let that be a lesson to you!
