I'm having a problem with sounds in different views. In the cockpit and VC, I can hear the engine but when I switch to the outside view, I hear nothing. I also can't hear guns in any view! I checked my folder to see if the files even installed to which its there...
anybody else had this problem?

As you know...the engines sound files for a particular plane are located in that plane's sound folder unless aliased to another and gun sounds are located in the sim's root sound folder.
Your problem doesn't make sense to me...hopefully someone will enlighten us both.

Is this problem manifesting itself on all stock aircraft and addons, or only on an addon?

I have heard of this problem in CFS2 before, so I suspect it is unrelated to the OS.
- Have you opened your Sound Settings and checked to make sure that none of the channels is muted?
- Have you ever modified the stock CFS2.cfg file?
- Is your CFS2/SOUND folder stock?
I ask because it sounds (no pun intended
) like you have some missing/misnamed wav files and/or some misconfigured sound settings in the CFS2.CFG file.

I will check and see...but I have not altered or added anything since installation. As far as the channels are concerned, all channels are muxed into left/right front channels. There is a problem with the X-FI cards and Windows 7 at the moment..all the channels work when testing it but when you use appz that support multi channels, it only plays from the two front channels...

This could well be the root of the problem. But let us know what you find.
