(Not sure if posted in right place, but had to get this out if nobody else noticed.)  I got a +7 FPS increase in my FSX setup just by setting the priority of fsx.exe in task manager to high.  From my understanding, this gives it more RAM usage.  (You need to click "Show processes from all users" in Vista and Win7, which requires admin privileges.)  Then just right-click fsx.exe, mouseover "Set priority", and click high.  There!  You're set!  LOL, 18 FPS with ultra high settings at KJFK with my worst AC, any of the POSKY 777s.

Cheesy

P.S. the setting does not save.  You have to do it all over again every time you start FS.  But it is a really small price to pay for the boost.

Asus G71GX-RX05 from BestBuy.     2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (Very easily overclocked by 15%, 25% for xtreme live-or-die sessions),
6GB of 800MHz DDR2 RAM       1GB GDDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M     500GB 5400 RPM SATA-150 HDD, w/ 2nd drive bay.  All for only $1300!

THIS IS AWESOME!!!

It says it might cause system instability? I'd just like another opinion to make sure it's ok.

It never caused instability even when I had 512 mb of RAM, so I don't think it matters.

EDIT: It  might if you do it to a whole bunch of processes, but I don't think just FSX will matter too much.

the ac is a twin otter taken at Honolulu International in Hawaii with everything turned up except airport ground traffic...I took a shot with it on normal then put it onto high...i went to put it to realtime and my system was wanting to crash. the pictures also show not a real difference between normal and high prioity setting.

Before with normal setting
...

after-with high prioity setting
...

I personally did not see a difference worth the possible trouble that it could cause....Maybe NickN could give us simmers some insite on this.

The worst that can happen is that FSX won't run, and all you have to do is reboot your system.

I Have a basic pc set up (2.2proccesser,1000ram,256 videocard) and when I set the priority on high I run 18fps very smoothly and I got my sliders pretty much all the way(except cloud distance and traffic).

I have 8 gigs of RAM, so I don't think I'd be causing any problems.
