you can take ANY afterburner effect from any aircraft and add it to ANY OTHER plane of your choice.

all you need is:

1) an Afterburner Capable airplane such as an F-18, or F-14.
        Preferably "Steve Hinson" remake of Dino's F14D found here at SIMV.... http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military126.htm       ( F14D REV 3 PACKAGE!!! )

1A) INSTALL the F14 as directed in the README!! to get the files in the correct locations so that you can utilize them.

2) you will need your Coral F15.

3) you will need to look in your F14 PANEL.cfg for the line::
             gauge40=rcb-gauges!F14EffectControl, 0,0
copy/paste it to your F15 PANEL.CFG  at the bottom of the [Window00] section and change "gauge40" to gauge*whatever the next number would be*

4) Go back to your F14D Aircraft.CFG, and look at the lights section.  you want to copy::

//light.11= 6, -22.7, -4.2,  0.7, fx_F14_Burn1 ,          // Eng1 Afterburner Burn1
//light.12= 6, -22.7, -4.2,  0.7, fx_F14_Burn2 ,          // Eng1 Afterburner Burn2
//light.13= 6, -25.3, -4.2,  0.7, fx_F14_Burnerflame ,    // Eng1 Afterburner Flame
//light.14= 7, -22.7,  4.2,  0.7, fx_F14_Burn1 ,          // Eng2 Afterburner Burn1
//light.15= 7, -22.7,  4.2,  0.7, fx_F14_Burn2 ,          // Eng2 Afterburner Burn2
//light.16= 7, -25.3,  4.2,  0.7, fx_F14_Burnerflame ,    // Eng2 Afterburner Flame
//light.17= 6, -22.0, -4.2,  0.7, fx_F14_Blueflame ,      // Eng1 Blueflame, when engine running
//light.18= 7, -22.0,  4.2,  0.7, fx_F14_Blueflame ,      // Eng2 Blueflame, when engine running

***without all the // marks*** and paste it to your F15 AIRCRAFT.CFG lights section.

HERE IS THE TRICKY PART!!! The 3 sets of numbers (-22.0 [to the rear of plane], 4.2/-4.2 [right and left of centerline], 0.7 [up] ) .... you will have to play with these numbers to get the flames just right to line up with the engine cowls.

HOWEVER!!!!! if you paste a link to your CORAL F15, **I** will set up your burners and make them flicker as you punch it down the runway and fly off into oblivion, then email you the UPDATED files when I am done.

Just to show you that it can be done, take a look at the thread I had started, along with the pandemic.... http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1258757153/0

Somebody made an afterburner effect for it that I found so easy to install I can't remember having any trouble with it at all. I downloaded it, unzipped it, slid it into Effects and that was that. Worked like a charm...

If you search for the CORAL F-15 here on Simviation, you will find that one of them is shown in the list with some screenshots showing how the afterburners color change with the altitude. I'd say this is the one to download.
In fact, I have downloaded it for FSX, in order to use its beautifull afterburners for the FSX Tomcat by Dino Smiley

It was so long ago, Captain. The one I downloaded changed colors as you gave it more throttle. I have been through several hard drives, installations and computers since then. I'm looking at another build come Spring and going through all the pains and tortures of setting-up FS9 and FSX all over again. Not looking forward to that at all. When will my torment end?

I think I may have found it right close to the original CORAL download file. I don't think Kaz coded it, but don't quote me on that. Maybe try searching "CORAL afterburner effect" in the Search function on the site...
