Saw him live at Wembley Arena last night. My sides are still hurting. If you have he means and the time, you will not be disappointed. Giraffes doing charades to warn each other of a lion near by to velociraptors being pulled over by the police for driving at 45 mph in a 30 mph zone via Neil Armstrong being met by God as he stepped on the moon to a frog playing a tea chest double bass. Now excuse me, I have to check the bandages around my ribs Cool Cool

I love Eddie Izzard! I have most of his material on DVD.

Never seen him live but my brother saw him on stage in San Francisco.

"Sir!"
"Yes, Sebastion! What is it?"
"It's the British, sir! They're outside."
"Really! My god, man! Should we make tea?"

"I claim India for Britain!"
"You can't claim us. We live here. 500 million of us!"
"Do you have a flag?"

Hope your ribs feel better soon.

British comedians, especially Eddie Izzard, are a cut above.  From the Pythons to Rowan Atkinson and the BlackAdder gang then my all-time rib splitter, fabulous Freddie Starr.

I didn't realise he was so big (in a manner of speaking) in the US. Smiley

My intro to Freddie was on a visit to Scotland in the mid-nineties.  A friend had recorded everything he'd done on TV so it was nose to the grindstone - with a bottle of Dalwhinnie.  He did one of the best Elvis's I've ever heard - even got the 'Jordanaires' (Elvises original backup) to come over to perform with him.  Benny Hill was popular here but not Freddie - surprising.

I live in the town on the south coast of England that Eddie Izzard grew up in, and he regularly tries out his new material in our local theatre, the De La Warr pavilion before he takes it on the road. We've seen him there a number of times in the last few years. He regularly comes back and supports local businesses and charities, and is a really nice bloke. My son served him in a local restaurant recently, and he was more than happy to spare time for chat, photographs and the like.

He used to do a routine about a shop near me, "Guns and banjoes". Observational humour indeed, the shop really does sell guns and guitars...
