Fairchild,

Hi and welcome to SimV.

Just a thought here....... you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.  Smiley

Sounds like you are having issues with getting stuff to work...... if you give more deatils some of the members here liekly will be able to assist you pretty quickly.

Can you give more info about what downloads seem to be the issue and what happens?  Also what specific sim (Combat Flight Sim ?, FS2004, FSX)?  And the machine you are using?

best,

................john

well I've got FSX and I'm trying to install some of the planes such as the C-130, Apache, and the Boat/hovercraft that includes the tank and other vehicles, and some of the missions aren't working either. I've tried everything I know to get the planes working.

and also we shouldn't have to type in a password at certian times in order to download what ever we're trying to download.

If you tell me the file names & exact page they're posted on I can check these files out for you.

From your original post you're having problems with military aircraft. Can I assume that you have successfully installed other types? FSX doesn't know the difference between between a military plane & any other type of aircraft.

No password is required to download any files from the free site. Please read this. http://www.simviation.com/accessprob.htm

A lot of people have difficulties learning addon installation, but people usually ask for help instead of attacking people and making demands. Heck, I had problems, and even some of the moderators when they first started getting into flightsim.

Pathetic arrogance won't get you far around here, so get down from your high pedestal. You're just a newbie here....

The point is -- the aircraft work fine. The problem is your method and understanding of how to install them.

FSX Install
FS2004 Install

Like has been said above, if you post a specific example of an aircraft you are having trouble with -- page and one example from that page -- someone will try to find where you are going wrong.

well then will you give very, very clear in depth information on how to get the downloads to show up. I've tried everything the FSX installer help said to do and I've even done what the people told me to do. I still don't have anything.

With all respect, A-10, all the freeware you download from SimV as well as other freeware sites is FREEWARE! The persons making these addons is doing it for free, and not all of them are professionals. So a little thankfullness is appreciated.

I can assure you you will not find a finer forum that will help you with any trouble you might get! so hang on there, your problems will soon be over, and soon you will get the SimV fever, and then it just never stops  Smiley

Enjoy!

You can't open those (AIR. files) without the software used to create them, and you shouldn't have any reason to do so (to install it, anyway). The "corrupt" message is probably just your OS's default "I dunno" response to a file it can't deal with.

As Jakes pointed out, these amateur-authored download folders are often tricky to sort out and install correctly... a typical problem is that the author packs them up in layers of folders, and things get separated, mislabeled or whatever.

And as others have also pointed out, your demand, or request, or whatever it is cannot be dealt with here unless we know the identity of at least one of the aircraft packages in question. There are thousands, and they're all different.

Adobe Air, I believe, is sometimes the cause of corrupt AIR. files. There is a thread or two concerning that issue somewhere in Simv.
