I haven't been able to fly much lately because of my controller.  I have a Saitek X52 and shes getting pretty old.  The wire connecting the throttle to the joystick has become old.  I mean the actual wire is fine, its just the wire inside it won't connect properly.  When I go to fly the throttle works fine but the joystick is unresponsive. Embarrassed

Anyone got a remedy to fixing it or knows where I can get a cheap one? Huh

Skok,

Had a similar experience with my X45 long ago....it resulted from a break in the ground wire within the cable. I suspect it is the ground if indeed all functions have been lost.

The cable set-up on the X-45 is: Throttle plugs into the Joy and the Joy connects to the Computer. Looking at pics/descriptions of the X-52 I believe it's opposite, Joy to Throttle and Throttle to Computer.

In my case, all of the functions on the Throttle became erratic, the Joy was fine. I brought up the Saitek calibration utility to watch for 'movement'. I then worked along the cable, bending and twisting, 'till I found the 'fault' area.

I split the cable sheath, unwrapped the foil shield and found the broken ground wire. I spliced the wire, taped things back up and have had no problems since.

Suspect areas of the cable where is has been bent, kinked or stretched, particularly near the strain reliefs.

If you want, you could simply replace the cable... the Saitek support forum is filled with people having cable trouble and asking for a replacement...

Basically, the cable you're looking for is a 6-pin, male to male Mini DIN (PS/2) cable, which should be available in electronics stores or on the internets... it's not a proprietary cable as they would have you think  Cool

Cheers
