I´m considering buying a new processor and the E8500@3.16Gh has caught my eye but what I want to know is will it run FSX on proper fps. I currently have the E4600@2.4

Or if anyone can tell me how to overclock my current processor to say... 3.0Gh?

My target processor is I7 but it´s way over my budget.

what motherboard do you use first as you may want to consider quad core if it supports it.

ZipZoomFly has good Intel Core 2 Duo's for under $200 that are 3.0 ghz. The one I plan on getting is...

INTEL BX80570E8400 Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz 1333 MHz Socket 775 6MB Desktop Processor

Copied right from the site. There is currently a $30 rebate too right now.

I got a Q8400 Quad and it runs FSX smooth as silk.

Very acceptable frames.  Course, I took nearly three months to find the sweet spot for settings that complemented my gear.  There ya go...
