Yes i understand that. And have the old files but people like to have newer planes to use

1.the new an-225 has a new paint job on it .it would be cool if they could make a texture pack for the old that will be fine.
2.the new c-17 has a better cockpit and better look from the outside .
3.the newer Atlantis has a better payload ,cockpit, and awesome blast off graphics and much better than the old

I would like some people see my side of it .There are people out there that cant afford to buy the new flight simulator x and have to have the old. Times are tough and people don't have the money to have new  and the creators don't think of us at all.And its not right or fair to us.I am trying to speak for them .

First off welcome to SimV if noone has told you yet.   Second, there are a small handfull of nice looking AN-124 / 225's out there, along with C-17's.   I have a very nice C-17 in my hangar that I might be willing to part with as a copy.  .... as to the Atlantis, I sense your pain.

I do have FSX as well as 9, and after a number of years, (although it will never be) I have my FS9 looking almost as good as FSX on LOW-MEDIUM.  which is just above BARE DESERT in FSX.

I too would like newer planes once in a while, but keep your chin up and GOOGLE on standby.

I have to disagree with you on that. First of all, it's a $hitload of work to build a good aircraftmodel. FSX and FS2004 models are (as I understand) very different. Second of all, there are still new models being developed for FS2004. And that will be for a long time to come since FS9 still has a very large number of users. Too bad that the models that you want aren't available, but that's the way it is.

That is ultimately what he is getting at.  All of these wonderful new models (example: F18 for FSX/Accelleration) .... why cant the designers make something that looks just as good, but throw a FS9 panel in it, so that we can fly the same thing?

I think it's because the design of a FSX aircraft with Acceleration and SP2 is totally different than a FS9 aircraft. It's not just a matter of 'throwing in' another panel...

You're right crash.
The 3D models, the texturing, the animations, the special parts, etc... everything is very different between FS9 and FSX.

I mean, for some simple models, the creator *could* convert to an FS9 model, but he would have to:
- redo the texturing (to temove the bump-maps, convert to correct format, map on the object again etc...)
- rework all of the animations
- rework the panel in case he was using some special instruments
and that a lot of working hours.

And of course, all of the above is only possible if the 3D model (external+internal) is not too big, since the polygon-limit set by the FS9 compiler is much smaller than the FSX one (which is unlimited, I believe).

When a developper has spent many hours creating a plane for FSX, he certainly just don't want to spent additionnal hours to build a FS9 version. Also, if I understood correctly, the FSX SDK is more pleasant for the creators, or at least it provides stuff that was not possible before and they love that. Usually, they don't want to go back to the FS9 SDK once they got comfortable with the FSX one. Look at Tim Conrad, he was building some of the finests FS9 freeware models... now he totally switched to FSX models.

I don't think one can say that those guys "do not think about the FS9 pilots". Most of them have created models for FS9 for several years, and now they moved to the next generation. Those have done more than enough for the previous sim, they should not be blamed in any case. Wink

i understand the work you guys do

But you did understand in what i was saying there is probity a lot more fs-2004 people out there and would like to get the new stuff for a change .

And you don't understand ether that people don't have money to go by the new fsx in tight times and way the economy is.Flight sim x  cost about 40 $ to buy, thats is two tank full of gas or put grocery's on the table for half a week to live .  and creators don't think of that at all ether you all must be rich and have money and don't see in what i am saying to you all Angry  and i am not a rich person and just getting by to live.

We understand that you are currently unable to upgrade to FSX. Unfortunately for users that cannot obtain a copy of X, some developers have chosen to move on to the latest and greatest technology.

It is not meant to be a slight towards you or other strictly 2004 users, but some developers believe that the most effective way to deploy a new addon is to originally intend to make it for the latest FSX version (Accel/SP2). Although it is taking a while, FSX is something that the majority of simmers will convert to in the coming months/years once the latest computer technology becomes cheaper. Any way you look at it, FS2004 usage is gradually decreasing.

As has been mentioned, a developer would almost have to start from scratch with a new model if they wished to make a 2004 version of a design for you and other 2004 simmers that is originally native to FSX-SP2.

We understand the state of the global economy right now, and unfortunately the simmers with older tech are just going to have to be patient until things come back around.

I do understand that very well. Why do you think I'm still using FS9?

If you think the creators are rich, think again. It's freeware. It costs them money to make it. If you think the rest of us is rich, I'm not.

In the end it is ultimately up to the individual designer to decide what plane he makes, and what versions it is for. I personally work in FSX only for a variety of reasons, and considering the fact that I sink hundreds of hours into something that will not make me any money to contribute to the gas & groceries that I have to buy...

Hopefully you can understand  Wink

I saw an FSX "Gold" pak (X and Accel in one box) at Best Buy the other day for $29.95.

yes i understand and seen that one .

But to me 30 plus tax and the closes best buy for me is 20 miles one way.By the time you figure in the gas thats 5.50 for 2 gallons and than 30 for the game and tax it will be close to 40.00 for me to get.that could feed me for three days for food or get me to work for 4 days .so i can make it to live on i don't have that funds to get it .That is what i am saying to you guys there area lot of people in my situation love to have but don't and would like to have creators provide for us for a change .that is what i am saying but many of you don't see where i am coming from

Put money aside each paycheck. do research on what stores sell lowest at what time and include shipping. For example newegg sells for $35 with free shipping and their prices change almost everyday on some items, Ive had a price change within an hour of me buying it.
If not this, become a creator your self and make what ever you want.
Like the others said, they can do so much more with FSX, and it is easier to make a fs2004 model and convert to FSX, but not get the full capabilities of fsx.
