OK thank you for the many great entries for this project!

We got off to the wrong start with this whole thing -- and info was thrown in which diverted the required theme.

So! Shane has come up with a great basis
Edited:
I replaced my original demo version with one that includes the changes Pete requested. This is still very much  an open project.

...

So what we need is just to unblur the aircraft, balance the image and add logo (top left I think) and 2 entry links -- 'Express Members' and 'Main Menu' . Could be buttons or small aviation looking panel.

Link to Shane's PSP file (editable) -- PSP9 file, for Photoshop version, see post below.

Link to Hi res Simviation logos
1st in white background 2nd blue.

So is the page going to be a variation of this image? Or are we still free to come up with some of our own? I have been slowly but surely working on a collage type page in which there are several pictures with the edges bent up, sort of like a scrapbook. Just want to know before I get real far into it and find it was all for nothing.

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

What you see in that pic is pretty much what Pete is looking for, just with the necessary adjustments he mentioned.

If you can put better looking cut-outs on it, with the other stuff he's after, by all means do it  Smiley.
I got some of these from the usual place, and the others were from screenshots I took. Wink

The background pic is probably a firm choice. And the planes should all appear to be flying out of the Simviation logo in the center.

Here is a link to the untouched background pic:

The project is not closed so always interested to see other ideas but Shane's is the closest thing to what I had in mind ... says what the site is about in a dramatic and professional way ....

The scrapbook idea sound interesting .... Smiley

Thanks

Ok, I will press on with my idea then. Maybe make a rough draft and see how it goes. I have a clear image of what I want it to look like in my head... just need to work and arrange it in that manner. No easy task.

May also play with Shanes image... tho I use Photoshop so I cant use his actual image.  Sad

All the tails should point towad the same place. This point is called the vanishing point (in this picture, the vanishing point is actually on the horizon in the middle of the picture, but it's the same basic idea), to use a Renaissance term. The perspective on a the A/C should be the same so the image looks 3D.

McAfee sure don't like Sendspace. com.  When I clicked on the link big red flags pop up everywhere.

That's OK, I don't like McAfee much.  Grin  Wink AVG, Spybot, Malware bytes, and AdAware all say it's fine.   Cool

I've used Sendspace for a long time now, and not met with any bad issues.  Until I can find a way to host my own stuff online, it's the best way I can think of.

The warnings might be associated with a pop-up ad. I got this when I downloaded the file.

Hmm, I run AVG, and have never seen that.  Huh

Guess I'll stop using sendspace then for public use.  I've sent lots of people things using them, and none of them (many from here) have never mentioned this before.

Thanks for the heads up on this.

Are there any trustworthy, free, hosting sites for general things like this?

The file downloaded fine & that was not affected. AVG blocked access to the pop-up.

I wonder if the fact that I run Adblock plus, and another popup blocker is why I've never seen that AVG warning before?  I don't ever see any popups anywhere, and I just updated to AVG 9.0 as well.

When I click the link this pops up:

Click on 'Regular' and this pops up:

I click download and the FF download manager pops up and saves the file.

Possibly. I have the latest AVG free version & Firefox has its own pop-up blocker. I tried downloading the file again with no sign of warning messages this time.

Hey guys. I am a fairly new member to your community here. I've been a member of FSN for about a year now.

Anyways, I saw this post and thought I would chime in. I'm a professional graphic designer and always looking for fun challenges.  Are you guys trying to redesign your splash page?

Need some designs done?  If you do, please PM me, and I'd be happy to throw some designs together.

Thanks,

Arc

This is a contest to redesign the Simviation home page. (The page that has two buttons, Main Menu and Express Member login) I don't believe someone can just come along and PM Pete and He'll say "Sure forget about the contest."  Grin Wink

You know I guess it would help if I read the whole post first... lol.

I'll get a submission going then. Cheesy  Thanks for the help.

Yes, it is addicting here. Lots of places to "interact" with the competitions...  Now if it would only make me money too. Cheesy

Thanks for the kudos on the sig!  Ya, I took a bunch of photos and video for Bruce when he was releasing the Atlantis, and I loved this shot I took so much I decided to use it as my sig.
