FS9 hell, that beast would probably do nicely on FSX as well. Wink

That's double the system I use, and I run FS9 maxed with no problems at all, and FSX on medium settings with no problems.

You're going to love that setup.  Smiley

Fozz, will a used Socket 939 3800+ fit your computer? I got one if you want it. Just PM me as to where to send it if you'd like it...

I dont fink so, Brewer... Wink...!

I am seriously attracted to my ancient Gigabyte, Socket A Motherboard, with its cosy AGP sockets suitable to accomodate ancient Graphics Cards...(3DFX onwards)... Kiss...!

Any "Modernisation" of my system would require a prior visit to the local Rubbish Tip, followed by a total re-build, costing me vast sums of the Green-Stuff... Cry...!

That's not going to happen any time soon...trust me!...Wink...!

At the mo', my lowly box of tricks runs all my "Games" to my satisfaction...(especially FS 2004)... Kiss...!

"Computer upgrades" only form a very small part of my day to day life... Smiley...!

Paul...with the Green-Stuff safe in my pocket!.. Cool...!

P.S. I don't think a 939 Processor will fit a Socket A Motherboard...?

My Socket A...(AMD XP 2600+ MMX Athlon Thoroughbred Processor)..."AMD’s new flagship Athlon XP/2600+ has a clock speed of 2.13GHz"..... Grin.....>>>

Modern CPUs are  UNDERclocked, so that OEMs like Dell, and Gateway can throw them on lousy mother-boards and use garbage RAM without problems.

If you have a decent board, and decent RAM, it's silly to not overclock, at least a little. You're paying for that performance.. why not use it ?

Edit:  I'm an over-clocking novice.. and I have a Q9550 running at 3.6Ghz  Smiley

Thanks for the reply, Fozz.

If anybody wants a used Socket 939 3800+, they can have it. I know it's an old chip and not very fast by today's standards, but we all don't have the latest gear for our toys. Just PM me for where to send it...

Oh, technically building touching or opening or installing the PCs OS parts voids warranties  Grin  But most PC shops will send it away saying THEY built it Grin
