I just bought FSrepaint V2.0 download, and when I try to make repaints it does not make an entry; or if it does make one, it is all messed up! And none of the textures are saved either. Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit with FSX, and UAC is turned off.

Thank You!

My advice? Screw Abacus. Use something more like...I don't know...GIMP 2.6...Photoshop. I'd suggest gimp. It's free and easy to use...It's stable..did I mention it's free?

I don't use Vista, but have read it is best not to install FS into Program Files.

Is this where yours is?

Are you running FSRepaint as an administrator?

The first thing I would would do is contact Abacus product support. I hear they're very helpful.

I think it's a VISTA related issue - you may be accessing FSRepaint V2 all right, but then there's the issue of accessing the FS-X files.

Contact adam@abacuspub.com.

and the fix was?

Remember, it is a Violation (well, to my sensibilities) to cry out a problem and have it fixed without telling the solution!

I just downloaded the current version of FS Repaint v2.22 and I'm having problems under Win7 64-bit.  No reply yet from Abacus, but here's the problem:

Installed it and it came up fine.  Left pane had Aircraft, Boats, Helos, Animals, Misc.  Loaded a default FSX 737 and double clicked a texture file into the default FS Repaint editor.  So far so good.  Changed the default editor to Photoshop CS4 32-bit.  CS4 opens when a texture file is double-clicked but nothing loads into CS4.  Tried several different texture files, all default FSX planes.

Changed default editor to CS4 64-bit and then CS3.  No luck.  Got a few error windows from FS Repaint that something was wrong (unable to read something).
THEN, went back to FS Repaint and both my Aircraft and Helo folders were missing in the left folder pane!!  Boats, Animals, Misc were there but no planes!
Checked \SimObjects folder - OK.  Started up FSX and that works fine so no corruption there.

Uninstalled FS Repaint and reinstalled.  Same thing.  I am at a total loss now.  Used a registry scrubber uninstaller and no luck (still something in there, I'm sure).
So for now, I'm back to loading planes into FSX to review my work.  I have absolutely NO idea why it reads some folders in SimObjects and not others!

Until I hear back from Abacus, I would recommend anyone using Win7 and/or 64-bit OS to avoid this program until they get it de-bugged and up to date!!  I will check back here if they come up with a solution.

Try doing a new install to a folder outside the "Program Files"  equivalent - say c:\Abacus\FSRepaint2

I'll try that.  But it did install in the \Program Files (x86) folder where it should be OK.

BTW, two days and no reply from Abacus.

Finally received a reply from Adam Howe at Abacus.  The solution was to uninstall FS Repaint 2.22.53, delete the folder and any remaining contents, then turn UAC completely off in Win7 (requires a reboot to take effect).  Reinstallation (as Administrator) rebuilt the files and it works fine, including sending a proper bitmap into Photoshop CS4.

Apparently, the UAC was blocking the bitmap file from Photoshop.  Why the aircraft folders disappeared, no one knows, but they're back now.  I have reset the UAC to the previous moderate setting so I hope that now the paths are being recognized and things will work properly after the UAC is reset.  If not, I'll leave it off as I did with Vista.

Note that uninstalling and reinstalling with UAC enabled did NOT work.
