Fellow Pilots and Readers,

It is an honor to be here today. To think what we have achieved over the last 2 years still blows me away. We have reached quite a milestone today and I am immensely proud to be the Chief Executive Officer of such a fantastic organization.

Of course, a CEO is nothing without their staff, I have to thank mine for all of the effort they have put in to this date, kudos to all of you for making this day possible.

Here at FlyCay our staff is the most important resource in our service commitment to our pilots. Our mission is to provide all pilots with the most realistic and enjoyable atmosphere to be in, and in doing so, we create exceptional memories for our pilots and for each other. Warmth and genuine caring are the hallmarks of every Cayman Virtual staff member. We go out of our way to create an excellent working environment for our pilots, as well as to create memorable experiences for everyone who becomes a part of this amazing airline.

Through the years Cayman Virtual has maintained controlled growth without sacrificing its commitment to quality. In 2007, when we commenced, we set an aggressive plan of expansion to meet the needs of the flourishing customer base. What started out as a small airline with an undersized fleet and route base steadily grew and became a part of a brand new Corporation playing host to multiple divisions, dozens of new pilots and an incredibly strong staff base.

Year two was a smooth continuation of what began in year one.  The nice thing about running a Virtual Airline is that in its second year you finally get to enjoy some of the payoff from the groundwork laid in the first year.
Flights and Profit improved substantially in year two. Additional staff were taken on board to reduce the overall workload, multiple divisions have begun, a few of which are being introduced today.

...

Over 5,000 successful flights flown (More then double the flights we had less then a year ago)

Nearly 10,000 hours flown (More then double the hours we had flown less then a year ago)

Over 3,858,890nm flown (That is nearly 19 times the distance from the earth to the moon!)

Over 630,000 happy passengers (Approximately 12 times the population of the Cayman Islands!)

Over 80,000,000lbs of cargo flown

A message from one of our Event Co-ordination Officers regarding the Turtle Dash events:

At FlyCay we have our popular bi-weekly event entitled the “Turtle Dash”. We first started this series of events a few months ago, since then they have advanced into a much more structured and well thought out event. We now have assigned departure slots for each pilot, to keep things organized on departure and arrival. Every week we travel around the Caribbean and the Eastern USA, having lots of fun on the way. Since the start the “Turtle Dash” events have been steadily growing. Soon we will be implementing a calendar which will be posted on the First of every month. On this calendar pilots will be able to reserve their departure slots for the rest of the month. I’m very excited to see what is to come with the “Turtle Dash” events in the near future.

...

We have recently overhauled our entire application process to now include an entrance examination consisting of 20 multiple choice questions where a pass mark of 75% or greater is required in order to join our ranks. All questions are based on either aviation or our airline, all information can be found through our SOP's or online. The time limit is 12 minutes, good luck. On the right hand side of our applicants page we have downloads for our Conduct Policy, our SOP's as well as access to our entrance exam. You will be given a password to attempt this exam after you have applied to join us.

...

Introduced today are our three brand new hub managers for Grand Cayman, New York and St. Maarten. Each hub has a large share of pilots who will battle it out monthly to complete the most flights, the most hours, and much more all to be crowned number 1!

Captain Ralph Caridad will now be representing the New York hub.

Captain Guy Dutton will be representing our St. Maarten hub.

Captain Jon Schutte will be representing our Grand Cayman hub.

Both of my fellow Hub Managers have displayed excellent conduct in our forums, both excel at motivating new and existing pilots and both I feel are very valuable assets to the team, I am very proud to be working alongside them, even if they are my competition!

...

When it comes to realism we strive for the highest level.  Our aircraft undergo all of the necessary checks both at the hub the aircraft are located at and at our maintenance facility down in Costa Rica. When an aircraft is sent down for its inspection and evaluation it is unusable and cannot be flown by anybody until the checks are complete and it is placed back into service. Our checks are coming up in the following weeks so our pilots can expect a reduction in routes and frequency of certain flights until all aircraft are back with us.

An overview of our maintenance checks:

A Check

This is performed approximately every month. This check is typically done overnight at an airport gate.

B Check

This is performed approximately every 3 months. This check is also usually done overnight at an airport gate. A similar occurrence schedule applies to the B check as to the A check.

C Check

This is performed approximately every 12–18 months or 2500 Flight Hours (FH). This maintenance check puts the aircraft out of service and requires plenty of space - these checks are completed at our maintenance base in Costa Rica. The schedule of occurrence has many factors and components as has been described, and thus varies by aircraft category and type.

D Check

This is the heaviest check for the airplane, also known as a Heavy Maintenance visit (HMV). This check occurs approximately every 4–5 years. This is the check that, more or less, takes the entire airplane apart for inspection. This requires even more space and time than all other checks, and must be performed at a maintenance base. Often, older aircraft being phased out of a particular airlines' fleet are stored or scrapped upon reaching their next check.

Modern transport category airplanes with MSG-3 derived maintenance programs employ usage parameters for each maintenance requirement such as flight hours, calendar time, or flight cycles. Maintenance intervals based on usage parameters allow more flexibility in scheduling the maintenance program to optimize aircraft utilization and minimize aircraft downtime.

...

Today the Cayman Virtual Corporation has been founded. This is the backbone of our entire operations and will play host to our multiple divisions. What are our divisions now?

Cayman Virtual

Cayman Airways Virtual is just one of the 4 divisions with the Cayman Virtual Corporation, founded by Jonathan Schutte in July 2007. The airline steadily grew and as it grew new routes and aircraft were added to accommodate the rapid increase in pilots, these routes were added under the subsidiary "FlyCay". We are based on the real world airline, however, we have expanded on the existing operations to make the airline more exciting and attractive to a wider variety of virtual pilots.

FlyCay

FlyCay is one of the major division's within the Cayman Virtual Corporation. This is where we expanded upon the Real World fleet and route structure to generate more interest and provide our pilots with a more diverse and exciting environment to fly in.

CayConnect

CayConnect is a brand new division within the Cayman Virtual Corporation. We specialise in regional or "Connection" services utilizing a fleet of Embraers. We have two unique branches within this division at this time, one located in the United States, the second is based in Europe. This division is a completely unique entity and can be accessed through our parent site at FlyCay.com

CayCargo

CayCargo is one of the latest additions to the Cayman Airways Virtual Corporation. We specialise in cargo hauling operations to a small spread of destinations throughout the Caribbean, Southern United States and Central America. Our fleet is comprised of the Boeing 737-300F and the ATR 72-500F, both are ideal for the hops that we offer, enjoy a truly exceptional experience, join CayCargo today!

* For further information on each division you can visit their corresponding websites.

...

The Cayman Airways signature in-flight magazine "Horizon" is now available for download! Feel like sitting back in first class for a bit, sipping on a rum punch with a few plantain chips, here is your chance! Although this magazine is not exclusive to Cayman Airways, more of a popular publication that is wide spread, we still are proud to support it and offer it to all of our pilots, even non pilots are more then welcome to download the 120 page magazine from our website and find out more about the island where our operations began!

...

Our websites each boast a fresh new look, wider content area and diverse color schemes make each division unique and eye catching. Our main webpage at FlyCay.com is presently plagued by balloons in the background to celebrate how far we have come, you will notice they will slowly fade away in the coming days until the background settles on a light shade of green.

Our Cargo Division boasts a bold new flavor, zesty red, to make the  mind wonder and let the reader lose them self amongst the content.

Our CayConnect Division displays a refreshing blue theme taking us back to the days of our old blue look. Anybody remember?

...

Rapid growth has been great these past 2 years, but it also gives me a headache when it comes to business planning.  I can’t even predict where we will stand three months from now, let alone a year; I just know it will be higher.  I suspect our greatest challenges in year three will be building staff and carefully managing specific aspects of the airline. The point of this expansion is to improve our capacity to help people grow.  I can’t even keep up with all the emails I get, and my to-do list grows faster than I’m able to hack away at it.

I could honestly go on and on but I'm sure I have to cut this release somewhere. Once again, I want to thank all of the pilots that are apart of this airline, they are really the one's that have made it what it is today. All of the staff have my utmost respect, you guys are the best, thank-you so much for helping me with this, it means so much. May all of you enjoy the changes that have been made and let us hope that our success continues through year three and onwards!

Alas I live in an area with no broadband, and pretty poor wireless. The original linked one took over 6 minutes to get into. Not quite a record but a very close second to the super-linked image one that took over 11 mins!
