I don't know if this has happened to anyone but if it has then I apologize. Anyway, there are some files that I downloaded for FSX like the OV-1 Mohawk from both FS2004 and FSX for example and for some inexplicable reason the plane model is invisible. The cockpit views are perfect but the spot shots, tower etc. I get an invisible plane.

HI

Please state the file and where you got it. That way we can look into it.

There should be no aircraft in the FSX download section that will not show. If there is one that has slipped by it will be deleted.

More likely there is a simple explanation such as not knowing how the aircraft is named in the FSX aircraft selection list.

It could be a FSX-SP2 issue too ,remember some of the true FSX models shows invisible with a lower PC (Old Video card, Low Old processors (CPU) On board video cards) or can be a non Sp1 and sp2 right installation, before delete it Pete Make sure is not a true FSX model by checking the two Mdl files (FS9 model Just have one) or two files in the model folder XXX.mdl xxx_Interior.mdl ..

The proplem may possibly be that they use 2048 X2048 bmps, instead of the usual 1024 X 1024 .bmps.    If that is the case (IIRC, the Bronco has 2048 bmps)

If that is the case, there are three fixes.

1.

In your FSX.cfg, find the line under the [graphics] section:

TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024

Change the "1024" to "2048"

You may have to go in an redo that occasionally.

2)

If you have DXTBmp, resize the .bmps to 1024 X 1024.  The resultes are less than perfect, but at least you can see your aircraft. (They may also be .dds files, but in theory, it should still work.)

3)

The ultimate solution.  If you have a Graphics card, it's probably a minimum "horsepower" graphics card, and the bestest thing to do is to upgrade.  If you do not have a graphics card, the bestest thing to do is to get one.

I had the same problem with certain aircraft not showing up, except for bits and pieces, like a set of wheels or parts of the interior, but after adding a graphics card, it was like getting a copy of "FSXI".  The preformance and appearance of FSX was that much better than without a graphics card.  And don't scrimp.  I tried two "cheepies" until I finally said, "The heck with it!" and went a couple of "levels" above the minimum suggested graphics card rateing.

If it's the Bronco I think it is, you are correct Al.  It was the same for me when you came out with that Citation a year or so ago.  I'm pretty sure the problem is the textures are too much for his computer to handle, just like it was for me.

It's the OV-1 Mohawk super package on FSX Military page 22. It's SP-2.

The Models are Indeed True FSX Models

The airplanes are all right, there's one exption in one of the VC that is too shine ,but as for the rest the Tim's aircraft are fine!

You could try reducing the resolution of the textures to 1024 x 768.

No Doug ,Textures has to be squares ,and yes its a BMP so you can use DTXBmp and reduce primary and secondary alpha Bmp to 1024x1024

Where can I find the FSX.cfg file?
