The plane is still in the air at this time. Co-pilot took over.

From what I've heard, there was a relief pilot on board, and was able to take the pilot's place, so really a non issue.  I do wonder if this will have an effect on the new mandatory retirement age.  A few years ago the deceased pilot would not have been flying.

I thought 60 years old was fine a few years ago. Didn't they raise it to 64?

It must be very comforting to know that there is both a Pilot AND a Co-Pilot aboard any Aeroplane carrying Passengers....Wink...!

The first report I read said his age was 61, but they changed that to 60 later.  Mandatory retirement used to be 60, now its 65.  I keep noticing in the articles I've read, they say it was a 777, but the phot they keep showing looks like a 757W.  I wonder if that is just a file photo of Continental, or is the story wrong.

According to the report there were two co-pilots. A relief pilot was aboard the aircraft. Also several doctors among the passengers including a cardiologist who examined the unfortunate captain.

Awwwn man!!! I just saw in on CNN

That really suck you know? , a heard attack ,a suddenly heard deadly heart attack,  Undecided we all have to be in medical control after 40 at least once a year ,although Coronary obstructions is not detectable, but I bet if this plot would have a healthy food exercises,(Something I don't do BTW) this never happen, Yes its scary ,is not the first time to a pilot ,its not a first time to a person a sudden mortal heart attack..

I'm thinking to start walking 1 hour a day very early in the morning ,then switch to 2  Undecided
