Got this email today:
Quote:
The newest virus circulating is the UPS/Fed Ex Delivery Failure. You will receive an email from UPS/Fed Ex Service along with a packet number.. It will say that they were unable to deliver a package sent to you on such-and-such a date. It then asks you to print out the invoice copy attached. DON'T TRY TO PRINT THIS. IT LAUNCHES THE VIRUS! Pass this warning on to all your PC operators at work and home. This virus has caused Millions of dollars in damage in the past few days.

It makes me wonder...
How many people open up an email like that knowing they didn't send a package and still think it's a good idea to try to print the invoice?

Thanks Shane, very good to know this. I am expecting a pakage soon ( Fed X ). I'd bet I wouldn't even have realized that I never gave them my Email address.

If the email address doesn't match up, then it is bound to be something dodgy.

Pays to look at who sent you the email... UPS and Fed-Ex will have their private email address, so if it isn't using it, it will be dangerous. I'd be more inclined to trust the second email there.

As with any corespondance from banks, creditcards, shipping companys, ect. In this day and age, It's always best to call these companys direct to find out what is up. I got my PC set to let me know if theres a windows update, But I won't down load it untill I verify it on MS update site! Can't be to carefull.

I think there's something about this on the UPS site, but thanks anyway. With UPS, FEDEX, and other services, as we know, you can track your incoming package directly on their websites, that's the best way to do it. They pretty much deliver on the day they say they will. but on at least one occasion, UPS could not deliver on time to me due to rain or whatever, but they did not e-mail me, why should they, on their tracking page it just says delivery was delayed.
Sometime ago I was getting some e-mail supposedly from one of my banks. Well, ya can't fool me. I knew right away it was spam, and my bank confirmed it.
The crooks are out there, and always looking for us. So be spam-smart. Big companies and organizations are. Most don't e-mail their people about anything. Don't impulsively open anything you don't recoginize right away. Paranoia pays.
