I recently inherited a set of flight controls from a relative.

It is a boxed set of rudder pedals, throttle, and stick, and came with a program called Flight Unlimited III.

I can't get the program to install as I think it's for a much older system, but I would still like to use the controls.

The problem there is their connection method,  I assume it used to be the industry standard hook up at the time, but it's before my time.

Do they make an adapter to go from this older style controller connection to a USB port, or should I just forget it now and buy something a little more modern? Cheesy

It looks really nice, and has VERY little use. It would be a shame to have to toss them away, and I don't see my self  downgrading to an older system to use them. Grin

Thanks for any help.

Most decent computer stores will do suitable adapters. Can you post a photo of the connectors and we might be able to help some more Wink
I had Flight Unlimited II....

Most of the older Joysticks, etc, used a "D Plug" which plugged into a D Socket in the rear of the Sound Card...(Game Port).

I retain my Creative Labs PCI Sound Card for that purpose.

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...and Flight Unlimited II and III... Smiley....!

I have various Joysticks and Joypads with a D Plug.

P.S. You could purchase a cheap Sound Card with a Game Port for the purpose.

Sorry for the blur, too much coffee this morning and I can't keep my hands from shaking.  Grin

The package is called the Thrustmaster Flight System.

This is the male & female connection.  All the components hook to each other, and then a main cable hooks to the system.

Those are the ones....15 Pin D Plugs, and 15 Pin D Sockets....

The main D Plug lead plugs into the D Socket on the back of the Sound Card Game Port*... (PCI Slot).

Paul... Cool...!

P.S. It will then appear under "Game Controllers".

* also used as a "MIDI" connection for Music Keyboards.

Fozz: I just use a standard MIDI cable for my keyboards, do you have any latency problems with the D cable? Just curious. Wink

Shane,

You do realize that the merchant recommended by Ozzy is based in the UK right?  You will most likely rack up a nice international shipping charge.  Since you live in Dayton, why don't check out MicroCenter -- they probably have a store near you.  They're a national chain based near Columbus.

www.microcenter.com

Newegg.com is another favorite of mine.
