Ok, I have most of my panel done, but I am at a stuck point.  I did the panel by hand in Photoshop.  The gauges I have used so far have been simple lifts from the Vega, and were easy enough to do in FSPS, but now it's getting to where I'm going to need switches and things that don't exist...

Anyone care to handhold me through some more of it?

Kevin

Is this thread closed?

I was going to suggest that Kevin "borrow" the needed gauges.

Download a similar aircraft, including gauges.

I'll bet a lot of them are CFS gauges.

I've done this many times.

If you publish it it's appropriate to ask the gauge authors for permission and to credit them.

Hi Kevin. I did just that and now am registered there. They have been having spammer problems and have removed the capability to register from the header. Thanks and best regards, Bob.

depending on what switches / gauges you want to put in your craft.... just look at the other craft that you already have B737,747 all defaults, any addons.... then go to their respective PANEL folder / PANEL.CFG and get the (example = gauge03=Lear_45!Left Gear Light, 595, 184 line and put it in your PANEL.CFG.

Here's the thing:  I always said I was going to do this thing right or not at all.  Now so far, I have given in and used the Vega gauges and made concession after concession to get this panel.  The biggest problem is that NOBODY really knows what the R614K panel looked like as no surviving pics of it exist (to the best of my knowledge).  R613K is similar, and is being restored as we speak, but the restoration team is being tighter than a...  well, never mind; they're not forthcoming.

I'm at the point now where anything else is going to be so glaring.  There is no way I'm going to stick a default C172 mixture switch or a Mooney fuel switch on a 1929 aircraft, and I lack the ability to do anything different.  The fuel gauge is TOTALLY unlike anything I've seen before, so it will have to be a unique gauge designed from scratch.  I'm working on the sliders for the mixture and have the magnetos in place.  I'm working on how to use the Mooney fuel selector with a different bmp, or someone suggested the Mustang switch...

The whole thing is a MESS right now...

what about using gauges from the GEEBEE, or another similar time period aircraft?  would you possibly willing to compensate that much.  I do understand that you are going for near perfect realism, but being that there are no available pictures, you might be able to fudge it just a hair and it still come out looking EXCELLENT.  (and being there are no pictures available, who is going to tell you that the GEE BEE gauges, or other craft are not correct???) you will be the only person that knows for certain unless someone goes digging in the panel.cfg

Well, there are a couple of reasons for that...

First, they're not my gauges and to use someone else's without their permission is about as low as you can get.  There's a little thing called PIRACY and THEFT that I like to avoid whenever possible.

Second, FS has several planes that have vintage gauges attached.  Default gauges are fair game...  Right now I am using the Vega gauges, with a few switches from the Caravan and Mooney thrown in.  When it comes to sounds, I'll probably do the same thing.

Third, They have GEEBEE written all over them!

Fourth, since I can't find someone who wants to do this panel for me, I need to learn how anyway.  Who is going to do the Solution and Peashooter panels if I don't?

And last, 100% accuracy is simply not available here, I agree.  I'm having to guess, look at what other period gauges were like, and in spots, just plain make it up.  But since I can't do that, then I want it to be a good looking panel and from what I've seen that means doing it myself.

Life goes on...

You know, since the Vega has a *.cab file, you can definitely modify the gauges to suite your needs.  All you have to do is replace the bitmaps (at least for on/off switches) and include the same XML file in your *.cab file.

Having to work with my Angel 44 gauges, I've gotten a fair amount of experience with hacking and slashing at previously-created gauges, so if you have any questions or need a little help, I could sure use something to work on . . . Wink

PM or email me.

Hope it helps even a little. Smiley

We're going again this weekend, If they have one there (you never know) I'll get as many pics as I can. Wink

Also, don't know if it's worth it, but testors site, has a 1/48 model of this. It's like $5-$8. That's where this pic came from was their site.

The Beechcraft site above, has pics of one on site, but none from the cockpit for nonmembers., they may have some available to members.
