I'm glad i'm not the only one that has ever turned down a promotion. The Army wants me to get promoted to Sergeant, but I keep saying no. Unfortunately, i'm being forced to turn in paperwork for a promotion packet... Roll Eyes

I don't know how it is in the Army, but as a Marine, Sergeant is the best rank to be, plenty of power, and minimal politics, just yell scream and shout, get the job done, and go home.  Let the SNCO's deal with the officers  Cool  Plus the pay is nice.

I just need to get the wife to recognize my rank...she seems to think she's a 3 star general....

...... Grin....!

That's when you lose all the good Mates you used to know, and have fun with, in the lower ranks... Cry...!

You now become the equivalent of a Politician, Government Official, Police Officer. Traffic Warden, etc, with all the self-selected power and control that that gives you...
...and we all know how much we love Politicians, Government Officials, Officials of any sort, Policemen, Traffic Wardens, etc...etc...controlling our lives?..... Angry....!

It was never my "Cup of Tea", throughout the whole of my short Military, and long Civilian life!... Wink...!

"Loneliness" is not very nice... Cry... Wink...!

Craftsman Fozzer..23146921....Sir!.... Smiley....!

..... Grin....!

I have to argue this...it's when you become Staff Sergeant when you lose the friends, that's when you become involved with the officer crap

With all due respect to all of you I can't believe you're using military analogies when comparing being a moderator of a web forum.

It's no different to being a normal member, just with a few extra buttons to push if needed.

And the members who stir it up, suggesting that if you take up an offer of moderating you'll be disliked by the rest are the only ones who create an "Us and Them" mentality.

I don't think being a mod is really about "being treated better".  Heck I wanted to be it because I'm always on here and correcting people (cough:cough Chad!) Grin
