SimV's server now has a hoplist!! Cool

It is currently set in Hawaii, and will take you through the various islands, but is being expanded to take you on a tour through the South Pacific islands and into, and around Australia.

There are no annoying, constantly repeating, reminder messages here, so nothing to distract those who are not interested in this feature.

To access and start the hop, just type: ?hop  into the chat box while online, and it'll tell you what to do from there. Wink

This will be a work in progress for a little while, so if there are any special routes in this area you would like to see included in the future, please feel free to post them here. Smiley

Thanks, and enjoy! Smiley

HOP LIST UPDATE

The Southern Pacific part of the hop has been added.

This hop list will consist of three main parts, two of which are now complete.

The first: A tour of the Hawaiian Islands that starts and ends at Honolulu Intl.

NOTE FOR THIS SECTION: This part of the hop is suited for smaller types of aircraft, but most commercial jets should have no problems.

The second: Starts when you arrive back at Honolulu and begins the Pacific Island hopping, and ends at Sydney, Australia.

NOTE FOR THIS SECTION: The distance in these hops is quite large and is geared more for commercial jets and fast fighters.
Only the truly brave should attempt these in a Cessna or similar type of small aircraft. Wink

(Many thanks to SeanTK for the help in assembling this route. Smiley )

The third : This is where the tour of Australia will start. It begins at Sydney and will explore  various strips around the circumference of the Island Continent. (STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

Please feel free to add comments and suggestions for routes to be added in the future. Wink

Cheers, and enjoy!

Shane, what the biggest distance between 2 hops? Would a DC-3 be able to make it?

The longest distance would be 1,265nm between Johnston Atoll and Majuro Atoll in the Marshall Islands. So the DC should have no problems.

After that monster, the longest is 713nm and the shortest is 391nm, and the rest average in between those.

There are 12 hops in the Pacific part. And each hop has a nice little island cluster to explore in between hops if you so choose. Smiley

We tried to get a good mix in this hop so everyone could enjoy it. Wink

The Austrialian part of the hop list won't involve such large distances for the most part. Unless we go for a nonstop return to Hawaii! Grin Wink

Enjoy, and feel free to make any suggestions to improve it. Smiley

1265nm? Time to find a nice, fast but small jet...

Just an update for part three of the hop. I've got the route all worked out now. The Australian part of the tour will be composed of 103 hops completely navigating the outer perimeter of the continent including some stops in Tasmania. It starts when you land in Sydney from the Pacific Hop and ends when you get back to Sydney. To complete the hop list will require some special nerve and endurance though. Wink

The final leg of the hop is a monster nonstop flight from Sydney back to Honolulu where it all began. Smiley

A special consideration: This tour of Australia was conceived with the FTX (payware for FSX) and VOZ 1.8(Freeware for FS9) addons in mind, so those who have these addons will get a special treat flying into different major and minor airports all throughout the country. Smiley

This part of the hop list should be added before anyone makes it to Sydney, however if you get there before I announce it's completion you may want to wait to complete the flight that takes you into Sydney. Wink

This hop list is a beast and should keep everyone busy for quite some time. Major kudos to the first to complete it. Cool

Glad to see people enjoying this! Smiley

I just finished the Hawaiian hop tonight. Next up is a nice long 713 mile hop from Honolulu to Johnston Atoll. Shocked

Sounds like a job for the Concorde! Grin Wink

EDIT: The hoplist has been updated and now goes all the way to Perth.

The rest should be up in a couple of days. Smiley
