Interesting video, thanks for posting!

I have to say, the new regs are going to be interesting in a few years.  Mario Andretti has said that the best formula is high horsepower and low downforce, just like CART in the 1990's.  Once all the teams catch up and the playing field is more competitive the racing will be alot of fun to watch.

So power boost from KERS is an electric assistance motor attached to the drivetrain?

Wont make any differance. Until the rev restrictions are lifted KERS slicks wings, nothing will make a differance, the extra power boost is negated by the fact they'll hit 18k revs before they have a chance to make it worth while. And yes it can either be an electrical(battery) or mechanical (flywheel- as being used by williams) system for kers. Although as a usual show of common sense every team except williams are going battery system but next years rules state it must be a mechanical system. So the millions teams spend this year will be wasted.
It'll be interesting to see whch teams choose to run it at the start and who wont. And it'll be interesting to see who runs it every race. Some races like monaco, its likely we wont see it run as the weight would likely offset the benefits.

A good hard crash and a flywheel breaking away, that should fly for quite a distance. Huh

no worse than the battery catching fire and sending the car up in flames like the fire that happend at red bulls factory last year.
The systems a joke. All the teams except bmw want it delayed, they all know its still to new to be safe. But because they all know it might bring a small advantage they are forced into pressing on.
