The Seven Four is the DC-3 of jet transports...
- Looks as good as it flies, very versatile, rugged and dependable, hard to replace.

Hmmm. I thought it was older than 40. I would still prefer to fly on a 747 than any other tube.

Well maybe Airbus is trying to replace it with its A380 but I can see the 747 still being used when I get old maybe newer models or not because of the economy
but it will get better and I can only imagine when im on my death bed what will be flying in the air.
Sincerely, Tyler

It'll easily reach 60, if not 75. To be fair, it's a decent airframe design, in which they can "easily" incorporate modern technology, as they are with the 747-8, so really it's not surprising.

I didn't even know they were making a new 747 model, they dont really discuss it alot I guess I hear more about the 787...
It looks like a beast though-

Im going to guess this will be history as how old it will be until it's retired

The 747 will fly for many more years - I hope at least SAS looks into some 747-800s (if they don't go bankrupt) that could replace their transatlantic A343s and A333s.
40 years since the first Boeing 747-100 took off.. Yee-ha!
