I'm a total newbie to MFS. I don't even own a version yet(still researching FS9 & FSX).
If I add the Tahiti X expansion(or any expansion) will it be there when I fly to it, or do I have to start from one of the local airports?
For example, if I fly a jumbojet there, will I see the expansion, or will I see the default land that comes with FSX?
The reason I ask is, in the #59 issue of PC Pilot, in the review it says, "The area covered is an enormous two-and-a-half million kilometers, so your choice of aircraft is important."
Also, is there something I can read that explains add-ons(planes, scenery, missions, etc...) in MSFS 9 or X and how they are implemented by the sim?
TIA,
Cliff

It should be there when you get to it. The only scenery that I know of that you have to turn on/off is FTX. That is such a pain that I will probably not ever get any FTX product.
If you want to make sure, see if you can find/join a forum that supports TahitiX and ask the question there or hopefully someone on this site who has it will give you an answer.

Tahiti X is like every other scenery addon. Once it is installed, it will show up whether you start at one of the island airports or fly in from a thousand miles away.
