i posted a few days ago about a static discharge that i think ruined one my ram modules. is there any software that i can download that will check my system to see if everything is working ok and see if anything is wrong? i have windows vista and an intel i7 940, is that makes any difference

memtest. download it. burn it. run it.

will quite obviously test your ram.

SiSoft SANDRA Lite should do the trick.

It's used a lot for benchmarking, but is also capable of testing various computer subsystems.
