I agree, this is ridiculous.

The pilot did what he could have, he landed in water safely (risky stuff Shocked), and US Airways compensated the passengers. Everyone is doing there best to resolve any issue.

US Airways are the innocent party here. They should sue the estate of the birds that caused the crash.....

I bet lawyers were renting boats and running out to the plane so they could hand out cards.  Big cities are full of ambulance chasers.  Plus so many people in today's society are just looking for that free meal ticket.

After the airline has been doing what it can for those people, not charging them for the flight, and handing out thousands of dollars to all of the passengers, they are still going to start a lawsuit? What a bunch of ungratefull, selfish, greedy morons.... Angry

They need to be thankfull that they're still alive, accept the fact that it was nobody's fault and that it was just a fluke of nature.

Many US Airways (LCC) passengers who endured a crash landing in the Hudson River 12 days ago say they appreciate the $5,000 that the airline has offered — but some say it's not enough.
Joe Hart, a salesman from Charlotte who suffered a bloody nose and bruises, says he "would like to be made whole for the incident."

$5000 isn't enough for a bloody nose and some bruises????  Huh I think it's too much. What is wrong with these people. Don't they understand how lucky they are?

Cool

No... they don't.

America has raised a whole generation or two of people that basically think the world owes them a living and that they can be "protected" from anything and everything bad happening....and if something bad DOES happen........ it is someone elses fault and they should PAY them for it.  And pay BIGTIME!

This sort of goes hand-in-hand with the whole Madoff thing, all the corporate scandals like Worldcom, and people buying houses (McMansions) they can't afford and then expecting someone will bail them out and let them keep the house when they can't pay for it.  And the CEOs of companys getting their big fat checks... while the lower down folks get job cuts and the stockholders watch their money disappear.

Add to that the US contingency fee legal system....... which has better odds than buying a lottery ticket...... and you have this scenario.

Disgusting!   Roll Eyes   They (including the plaintiff's laywyers) should be sentenced to view real crash footage videos from all those planes that did NOT make it....and then should have to serve as recovery personel on a REAL crash scene putting body parts in bags.

Absolutely appaling.   Smiley

best,

Alas it is exactly this sort of thing that has given Americans such a bad reputation... and is the reason I wouldn't live in the States again. I hate lawyers nearly as much as politicians, tabloid journalists and traffic wardens :evil

Unfortunately the "litigation culture" is no longer confined to America.

Don't I know it Doug. Methinks living on top of a mountain far away from humanity is about the only way to stay sane!

Newest Black Berry=$400
Carry on and what not on such a short flight=around $1000+
Lap Top if they had it=$2000
Being alive when the Captain could have saved him self only=Priceless.

So The $5000 that they gave out that they did not have to, was more then enough. Any one that shows up looking for more should be tazered on the spot, and beat to within an inch of there lives, and then pissed on just so they realize how lucky they are to be alive.  Angry

Get the idea it is mostly just the one guy so far.

One or two may pop up... but still...

I am an American, and after an event like that, a law suit is the last thing I would think about..

Maybe going to church more.. and thanking God, but not a law suit.
