Info on overclocking my 940 (Read 534 times)

so i have had my i7 940 for a little over a week, and it has been great. FSX is so nice, good frames and smooth. and after doing alot of reading, i think i am ready to overclock it to get a little more performance out of it. i was thinking 3.6-3.8 range. i have the thermalright 120 cooler, so i should be set with that. from what i read, all i have to do is raise bblock and vcore? sounds a little to simple. what exactly would i have to do to overclock my rig? and also, how can i figure out the speed at which my memory is running? any help will be greatly appreciated

i have a i7 940, asus p6t delux, and OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Hi there. I asked the same question on the i7940 (isn't it magic, we've waited two years for this chip) and so have others, so there is good help to be had on the link below. It'll save Nick saying it over again.

I have done a simple overclock to get me to 3.4 and the temp still remains below 80C. So follow Nick's instructions and enjoy the extra performance.

FSX runs fine... the problem

Yes.. scroll down the page in the link that macca22au posted and you will find all the information about basic clocking

with the right HSF you can run the higher BCLOCK values up to 4GHz but YOU MUST check and stress test for temps correctly
