I am curious, are there any freeware programs that will detect keyboard monitoring programs or will Spybot detect such programs?

Spybot will do it, you just need to make sure to keep it updated. But if you're still a bit worried get ad-aware too. combo of ad-aware and spybot will keep you very safe from key loggers.

And if you really arent sure, then type random letters and charters in the address bar whilst typing in passwords and usernames, they get registered by the spyware but have no effect on the website you are signing into.

It really was just curiosity.  I changed my password in my email program at work and it just got me to thinking if Spybot or anything like that would pick up a keylogger program if someone had installed such a program on my computer.  I am not really worried about websites.  If I am on a website that I have any concerns about at all and it asks for an email address ect., I give them a yahoo address, not my home address.
