Hello Mates,

I recently purchased PMDG´s MD-11. An awesome aircraft even though I´ve never been a huge fan of the MD-11.

Anyhow, I decided today to install a few liveries. However, as soon as the instalation process is complete I get an error messege when I attempt to fire up FSX. Some messege about a terrain texture, missing, which obviously renders the sim inoperable.

I´ve tried this twice already and same result.

What am I doing wrong? The installer by default selects FSX´s main directory. Should I choose some other folder within the main directory?

Thanks in advance.
Cheerz.

Im not sure about this because I don't have the PMDG MD-11, but, anyways I'll try to help.

When the installer tells you to pick a directory does it say to choose the main FSX folder or the aircraft's main folder? Because if it says to choose the aircraft's main folder and you chose FSX"s main folder it may have overwritten one of the crucial terrain files in the main Terrain folder, or it may of just overwritten the whole thing. Just have a look in your PMDG MD-11 folder in the Simobjects\aircraft folder and see if there are other texture files like "texture.1, texture2" etc. if thats there then you have some other problem. It could be something else that you downloaded before you tried installing the MD-11.

I hope that helps,  Wink

Ah! You make perfect sense.

I´ll try again as soon as I re-install FSX again. I´ll follow your instructions.

Thanks.

Well, guess what I tried that but all I get is "Aircraft cfg. not found". I read elsewhere that I should install it at FSX main directory but I don´t want to try that as it scares it will screw things up again.

What to do!

dont't worry - not your fault -
there's a built in trojan in the new livery installer: if something goes wrong with validation it deletes your fsx ...\texture\ folder and both md11 folders in ...\simobjects\airplanes\ - so if you have a backup of these three folders just restore and you are back to normal; if not : tough luck - reinstall fsx ...

there has been a post about this in the avsim pmdg support forum till yesterday but it has been deleted now!!! obviously pmdg did not like the message ...

If you are using an illegal version of the PMDG MD-11, your FS9/X install will become corrupt. Just a preventative measure taken by PMDG I guess. Undecided

It can´t be illegal. I paid some serious cash for it. By the way I finally got it running...
