Just tuned in on this one.  Far out!

Met him and Iommi in 1975, West Palm Beach Sabbath concert.  Very nice fellow, friendly, and relatively coherent at the time.

Happy B-Day Ozzy!

Yeah, relatively coherent.

"Relatively coherent" being a nice way to say he was at least able to speak in mostly complete sentences.  Well, maybe.  While my ex-drummer was in a corner talking guitar tech with Iommi, I was staring down at Ozzy, who was sitting down.  Trying to listen in on my drummer's rather interesting conversation while not walking away from Ozzy was not do-able, didn't want to be rude.  Most of the conversation was one-sided, Ozzy kept going on and on with "I've got the flu, I've had the flu for weeks now, almost couldn't get the last album (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath) finished, couldn't sing worth s**t tonight", and so on, repeatedly.  When he said "I couldn't sing tonight", I said, "Yeah, you guys were a lot better last year", then realized, 'No, don't say stuff like that'.  They really had a bad night of it, tho, weren't up to par at all, and really were better the year before, same place.

I did ask him one question tho: "Why does your voice sound a bit different after the first album?" (it sounds higher), to which he replied, "I was able to sing in a higher pitch after awhile with all that practice."

Whatever, it was a fun experience and makes for a good story.

That's what makes Ozzy...OZZY!  If he was a typical 20 year old emo punk singer I wouldn't even notice his existence, but this guy is 60 years old now and about to kick off another season of Ozzfest!  Even for a burnout, he's a cool dude!!
