I have just got hold of my my new  Aerosoft Bush Hawk XP I couldnt wait to get flying but when it first loaded up i realised this was going to be a big FPS eater. Compared to my other aircraft:

-Aerosoft Bush Hawk XP @ Alpnach         11-15

-Aerosoft Twin Otter @ Alpnach               24-28
-Aerosoft Logic Tiger X @ Alpnach           22-28
-Realair Simulations SF260 @ Alpnach     30-36
-Alphasim Hawker Hunter @alpnach        28-36

I can only really put this down to the size of the textures or the format they are in as when I come out of fsx and go into the airplanes folder i can see that each texture take up alot of space compared to the rest considering each texture is just about under 60mb's and in others they seem to be in ther 20's or 30's of megabytes

I was wondering if it is possible to change the size/resolution or format of each texture to help bring down the FPS in my fsx. I have a program ( DXTbmp ) which might have some way of doing this but Im not sure how to use it to do these modification.

My spec info:

FSX-SP1+Accel
Windows vista 32bit
8800GTX 768mb GPU
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU

Thanks

You can modify the textures the same way you would paint a 'craft (check the paint section in the forums or google it up) but payware aircrafts usually come with bumps and highquality cockpits. There are a bunch of things but only if you turn your settings down for the cockpit quality and maybe fool around trying to delete some of the bump map texture files. I'm no expert in this but I have plenty of payware aircraft that hit FPS. On the "Aerosoft Bush Hawk XP @ Alpnach" I would try to modify it. The rest, suck up the 20 fps and save some time Wink

there seems to be no repaints available for this aircraft yet. But I am also fond of the paints which come with the aircraft just so long as they give me better FPS, But they dont.
I am also no expert on this but I want to learn, and I am willing to do almost any method possible to get these textures to give me better fps.

I'm interested in this too. The Mitsubishi F2A's cockpit textures are so high quality that they drop my fps down to 7. Outside the aircraft I get 20.

I have been messing around with this textures and I have had no luck, only luck in making the aircraft transparent in some places, (not even sure how I did that) anyone came up with any bright ideas?  Anyone know of any popular fsx modding forums?
