Colin McFadden has released the review of FSDreamTeam KJFK, however, it seems that either he is having trouble with his computer or his scenery sliders were not set properly, because he made severe complaints about low-res taxiway textures that were quickly toppled here.

The review will be amended soon as he has realized this, so this is just an FYI for now, please disregard his critisizm of the taxiway textures, what he was seeing was not what he was supposed to be seeing.

Again, all mistakes will be corrected ASAP. Please don't rant about the reviewer, as he didn't know any better at that time. Wink

Forgive my ignorance, but can I assume that you're part of the group (FSDreamTeam) that released the KJFK scnery product?

Well, I'm marking FSDT off the people who I'd want to review, attacking customers and a reviewer ain't cool.

I just bought the new FSDreamTeam KJFK. I find it a great airport to fly into and out of all times of the day and night.

This airport is great for hovering off the end of an active runway in a Helo at night and see eight plus aircraft lined up for takeoff and a string of them on approach. It’s also a great airport to take off in a 747, make a wide pass over LaGuardia with a touch and go at Newark, then ending back up landing at JFK. All of the terminals and adjoining buildings, roads, ramps, parking garages, etc. make it a true replica of JFK. Really looks great from a distance.

As for it being the top 3, 5, 10th “best scenery ever”, there is no way that this can be true without some serious ground scenery improvements. The taxiways, tarmacs, and adjoining ground textures are awful. The autos parked in parking lots, buildings, have blunt fronts and backs. Roadways need to be dressed up. There is no consistency with the ground textures.

Colin McFadden assessment of KJFK is correct. Look at these screenshots.

I know there are better cars in their inventory than these.
...

See how great the terminals and ramps look.
...

This is how the ground texture looks throughout the airport. Again awful.
...

Note the detail for the strobe lighting then the ground texture next to the runway. No cinsistency.
...

Almost looks like toxic waste.
...

This is a great overhead. If the ground textures were fixed, it could easily compete for being the best of the best scenic airport.
...

In spite of everything and for what its worth, I like the airport. By the way my computer is running perfectly and for the most part my sliders are far right for acquiring the best screenshots.

Happy Flying

Now, the above critisizms are quite valid, as that is exactly what is in place at the airport.

What I was talking about with the Avsim review was that the screenshots the reviewer took and was critisizing were invalid, as they did not look like the above screenshots, which are correct.

What you see above is how the place is supposed to look, and if you don't like the groud textures there, that's fine by me.

By the way, the majority of the above topic was a user (JamesChams) being a little uncouth, and I posted that reply suggesting the thread had become derailed, because that's what he succeeded in doing. Wink

I lked the "mini-review"  in here much better.

If I flew out of JFK on a (much) more regular basis, I'd defintely consider this scenery to purchase.

The point is this:  Just because someone has the title of "reviewer" doesn't mean they know what they are talking about.

That is why it pays to do your homework and look at a lot of sources before spending hard earned cash.  Remember... Caveat Emptor.

I have to agree with Flight Ace

I bought the product earlier today...and well...the taxiway textures are just plain awful. There is no "fluidity" between ground textures and it really does look unfinished, which is a huge disappointment as I know FS Dream Team can make great products. Zurich is (in my opinion) very well made

I think the reviewer got it pretty much correct

Just my 2 cents
