hello everyone!!

just thought i'd tell about my new laptop i bought today...
keep in mind that it's not meant to do any flight simming... it's basically for taking to colege so i don't have to suffer using the crappy computers they have there  Wink

here go specs:

Acer Aspire 7530
1.9Ghz Athlon x2 64-bit
2GB DDR2 RAM
2 120GB HDs (probably 5400RPM)
Geforce 9100M GPU (up to 895MB shared video memory)
17" widescreen @ 1440x900 res
currently running Vista SP1 (i'm giving it a go for now... if i lose my patience with it... it's out and in with XP)

so far i'm really happy with it... i'm posting from it right now...
i know it's not top-notch, but it looks awesome and @ less than 700USD, i think it was a very good deal... (well, i used to live in brazil, land of all taxes, so everything is cheap for me Wink )
and i don't plan on using it for heavy gaming... so i think it'll do it's job nicely...
even so, apart from the GPU,  right now it's about as powerful as my big rig... (actually better on some aspects)

next up, the upgrading of my big rig, so it won't be outgraded by a portable  Wink but that could take a while since i maxed out my credit card  Roll Eyes

Cheers

well i have to admit i was lucky...

this whole global crisis thing actually helped me out on this one... since i'm living in Mexico, and the mexican peso has tanked.. that made the laptop real cheap with the conversion, since the store bought them before the peso dropped, so everything is real cheap now... but only for a while, because when everything is sold out, the next batch will have increased prices to compensate for the currency drop

so i was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time  Wink

BTW, this laptop has pretty much already paid for itself... i took it to college and while we were in class the light went out like 4 times in a row... everyone lost all their work except me, as i could keep going on the battery  Cheesy

you can imagine my satisfaction when that happened  Grin

Cheers
