What is it about some older models that make them not show in FSX?
Is it a file/texture issue, or because of the program used to make the model? Just wondering, I found a plane I've always wanted and was interested in what it might take to make it work in FSX.
If it can't be done, it's no worry, because she performs beautifully in FS9. Wink   I was just curious about the reasons.
Thanks for any replies. Smiley

It can be a combination of things...  from the model itself, to the limitations of your hardware. Even a 100% FSX model can have issues in FSX, if the hardware is out of date.. Like my 310.. it uses 2048X2048 textures.. and nearly of all of the texturing options available to a FSX modeler.  It not only requires a newer, powerful video-card.. you also have to have FSX fully updated to SP2.

Mostly though, it's a texture format deal. Converting the textures to the older FS9 format ususally helps.. but it can be an animation thing too. The way that FSX models render textures on animated parts seems to throw fits in FS9..

I think I understand. I have absolutely no problems with your 310 at all so I guess that means my hardware must be ok, Wink  Can the texture conversions you refer to be done with DXTBMP or is this a more involved process? The model I refer to was made for FS2002, it works perfect in FS9. But nothing shows in the preview window for FSX.
I have DXTBMP and have started to meet with some success with it as far as converting some old repaints,windows/props, and some minor repaints myself. I'm trying to convert the "Old Dog'EB-52 by loomex to work in FSX(links and pics found in the B.S. airplanes wanted thread.)

Thanks again for your reply Smiley

I would venture that it's the model ....   the FS2002 model format itself isn't that FS-X friendly!
