today when i fired up my FSX my aircraft barely had any up elevator....so i went to check the properties of my Aviator joystick and it shows it with no pressure on the stick as to 3/4 down elevator...How do i calibrate the joystick with window XP? I went into properties and there is not a calibration button that i see. I even did a search with the window help on XP and that is what it told me also, but i dont see one. I did fiddle around with the dead zones but that didnt help because it took away the up elevator that i had so i change it back to the way it was. Hope to get this fixed soon so i can get back to flying.
thank you for all those who help
Jason

Do you definately have the latest and greatest drivers for it installed?
Have you tried using it on another connection port or different computer to test where the problem is?

Control panel / Game Controllers
I just did an on site job yesterday where someone had a radio control helicopter simulator with a custom controller that seemed faulty.
It turned out that the software for the controller would not calibrate correctly because the windows calibration was so far out in the first place. Once the windows calibration was set properly, the controller software worked fine and he was back in business.

sorry to rant and rave but this is really frustrating...do i need to try and take it apart to clean? or is that like cutting of the head to cure a headache?
*EDIT* I just hooked my gamepad controller that i use for my racing games and it has the settings button to calibrate it. Now i am really lost

How old is your stick? They don't last forever.
I'd try a reinstall first. If you have already changed your USB port you may find an initial improvement then the function will deteriorate.
Reinstalling may solve the problem but try changing the port again if there is no change.
If there is no change then perhaps look for a new stick.
I have been watching my rudder axis slowly fail on my Logitech stick and finally bought Saitek pedals to compensate.
Cheers,
Col.

I've had a hunt round on Google & it seems this problem is not uncommon. Most Saitek joysticks are self-calibrating & not possible to calibrate from the Windows utility. There's a registry tweak posted on the Saitek forum which might be worth a try. Read both pages.

thank you for the link hagar....i read through the post and was going to try the what there admin was saying but my comp doesnt have the folder that they said to delete with the controller unplugged.
i would not have thought that i would not be having these trouble with this controller because its only a year old....the controller that i had before this was the wingman and it was 5 years old when i replaced it because i wanted rudder control on the stick lol
