Olympus 0.6X Wide Conversion Lens Arrives Today

For about a year I have been searching for a used Olympus 0.6X Wide Conversion VF-KL3 lens to install on the existing lens of my Viewsonic PJ368 projector handling the front views.  They apparently are scarser than hen's teeth.  I finally found one on EBay........ and got it for an amazing $17.00.  This is a high end video conversion lens.  Weighs a few pounds.  Mount end is 58mm.  The front end is about 80 mm.  It is a well built piece of optical merchandise.

I got this piece of advice from a guy (handle-737Nut) that uses the same projector as I do that this lens will dramatically increase the short throw capabilities of what is already a good short throw projector.  So this will likely give me the full image that I want in front of my windscreen in the tight space that I have (less than 5 feet of throw).  Should bring the image up to over 60" wide (not diag.).

Can't wait to get it mounted up.

...

(PS:  The lens is absolutely mint.  The stuff that looks like scratches and dirt in the picture is reflection.)

Yeah....it is clearly an expensive piece of kit when it was new.  The optics are CLEARLY top quality glass and construction.  It was a steal.  Keep your eyes open.

The sucker is HUGE.   Grin

Dealing with my fs2004 installation screwing up right now (see fs2004 forum) .....so that is consuming all "pit" time at the moment.  Hopefully I'll get that issue solved and get to testing the lens soon.

best,

Hi,

Just wondering about the graphics package you use.  I need a package for dummies!!!!  I have looked at a few cad packages and just can't seem to understand or use them.  Any thoughts on your package - Serif.

Thanks

Rob,

Hi and welcome to the SimV Home Cockpits forum section.

The Serif package that I use is only for creating the panel facing graphics.  It is not a "CAD" package.   For drafting/design type work I use Drafix Quick CAD for 2-d work and Design CAD for 3-d.

Here's Serif's line of products:

http://www.serif.com/store/index.asp

If you go back through the 40 threads documenting my work so far.... you can get a feel for what I have been doing on this project.  I have been "stalled" for a bit now due to lack of time to devote to anything except work.

It will continue.  Wink
