Well i bit the bullet - FSX now resides on my probably not up to it computer. However, although ive only spent 10 minutes or so faffing - it runs really really well - some of the sliders i had nearly maxed and it was smooth - out at sea anyway Grin

I expected the stuttering 3fps and loads of jaggies nonsense but amazingly nothing like it. Smooth and nice. Very shocked i was indeed.

I installed it on a slave drive, and quite suprised how much quicker it is than fs9, although i have a lot of add-ons in fs9. Flight though, is somthing else - its not quite the same as fs9 ive found, and heres the end result of my first try on the carrier mission things Grin

Looking forward to experimenting with fsx and seeing just how much i can squeeze out of my Nvidia FX5500- if i ever get the time at the moment

Erm, if you have a comp with a PCI-E slot and are in the US, I'm sure I could send you something better than the FX...

Nice shot, I screwed up on the first try as well.

Im sure anything would be better than the 5500 - but its served me well, in fs9 it copes really well as evidenced by my fs9 screenshots - only in really built up areas does it struggle, and even then its just about flyable with everything maxed.

Ill be upgrading my PC soon for somthing flash so for the minute it will have to do. Thanks for the offer though!

Dude, your comp is still better than mine! Ive got a lowly FX5200! hahaha

I failed on my first carrier mission too. Lookin forward to some great fsx shots from ya!

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Welcome to the "Dark Side", Todayshorse Smiley
I can wait to see what kind of screenshots you'll issue on that game. Knowing your FS9 shooting skills, I'm sure you'll produce some very nice visual with FSX Wink

Thanks fellas - although ill probably resort back to fs9 for some shots, its like starting all over again Sad

Spent more time today faffing with sliders just seeing what it can cope with and what it cant. Even with everything to the max it will run which has suprised me no end! Some oddities though, so im working back from the max till it becomes not neccesarily flyable, but visualy nice. Then i can save that it appears and click it back a few notches for flying i think.

Hmm where to start with nice scenery and some nice looking planes next!

Depends on how much money  you have, if you want a ton of good payware scenery, go to fullterrain.com, they also have great freeware stuff, and AussieX has a ton of stuff as well Cheesy.

PM me if you want what I reccomend (It'll be a loooooooooooong list of freeware stuff, along with some payware stuff to enhance it Tongue).

Did you eject in time? If you did, Uncle Sam is going to send you the bill for that jet. After that, the only thing you'll be flying is a desk...

I'm itching to try my copy of FSX. But I'm a little girl when it comes to putting something on with which so many others have had so much trouble. I don't need trouble...

My system: AMD Phenom 9500 cpu, 2 x eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS Superclocked vidcards (640Mb DDR3 each), Zalman "sunflower" 9700 fan, Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo, 4Gb G.Skill PC2-6400 DDR2 800Mhz RAM, 2 x Sony 20X DVD writers, Thermaltake Toughpower 850W modular p/s, 7 x 120mm fans, Windows XP Home and SP3, 2 x 250Gb Western Digital SATA-300 HDs (1 for apps, 1 for storage and precious files backup), CoolerMaster CM 690 case, NOD-32. Won't run FSX. Locks up a lot with FS9, too.

Well i was apprehensive. Ive read nothing but 'FSX is trouble on anything other than deep blue or some other super computer'

However, my mediocre system installed it smoothly and without a hitch, and it runs fine, as long as i allow for the fact i need a powerful system to run it smoothly at its maximum, but ive been impressed just how much my system can cope with.

Looking at your specs, if mine can run it then yours should no problem.

Just think of FSX as the 'FS9 experience', only with better graphics and features this time around! Wink  Hope you enjoy the 'upgrade?' Wink
By the time you get it just the way you want it, the new one will get released. Wink Grin
