I am sad to report that Phil Taylor is leaving Aces.

I do wish to point out that this move does not have anything to do with Aces or their plans.

Phil Taylor is a pioneer in 3D technology. He’s been involved with some of the most critical turning points in technology design for the industry. Phil’s background and desire to be in the cutting edge area of the field has prompted him to take a unique opportunity to continue in that path with Intel and the Larrabee project.

Larrabee is Intel’s version of 3D rendering and it has the potential to revolutionize and change how 3D and the PC works in the future. Therefore Phil has accepted an Intel offer to work on the Larrabee project. Its possible Intel may show interest in FS11 so his dealings with MSFS design may not be over.

I wish to sincerely thank Phil for bringing his knowledge and skills to the MSFS community, stepping up to the plate and bringing the FSX title into its time along with setting the standards for the future.

He will be missed and I wish him god speed in his journey to follow his dream and path as a cutting edge developer in 3D technology

Good Luck Phil!

Sorry to hear that he's leaving Aces, but I wish him the best of luck.

It will be sad to see our inside connection to the FS design team gone Undecided

I am very happy for Phil that he could move to what seems to be a very interesting job for him.
I am very dissapointed that we are *kind of* loosing one of the only guys from the FS side that was frequently communicating with us.
Wishing him all the best anyway Smiley

The world of FS looses a great guy. The world of 3d gains a great guy. Phil was the only guy from MSFS for many years that knew how to connect with the community - lets hope that doesn't end now ... Smiley

Of course we'll all be watching/experiencing 3d visual entertainment once the technology/processor capacity/bandwidth etc, is there & what a great area to be in!!!

We all wish you the very best Phil! It would be great to see a blog on your new area ... Smiley

Yes, congrats on the new position Phil
and Thank You for joining the Simviation community.
Your presence was welcomed and hope that you have
made a few friends here. We would hope that you "pop in" from time
to time and let us know how things are progressing. It is very comforting to know
that You will be working on the Larrabee Project as it has a very real impact on how FS progresses.
Nice to know that the person behind the it is a sim fanatic just like the rest of us!

Cheers to Phil...

From a web quote! Seems that Phil may still be somewhat involved in FS!

Quote:
Taylor's last day at Microsoft will be Friday, September 26. He noted that the Larrabee team may be interested in Microsoft's FS11 project and that he may be interacting with his colleagues again in the near future.

Let's hope this is true!

Phil, thank you for everything you have done for the FS series and its community. I wish you the best of luck in your new position! Naturally, you should have an influence on them in FS11. Be sure to check in with us every now and then so we know how things are going!

Cheers!  Cheesy
