What do you all think of this idea (the actual work would not be the problem). I have an old set of CH rudder pedals that are game port. They have been gathering dust due to my set up not really liking the game port to USB interface that I tried. Now being that they are game port, they have no real value. I would be lucky to get a Euro for them on Ebay. Buying a new set is out of the question, Mrs-the-ex-pat would string me up by the short and curlies
What is a possibility is the folllowing, rip out all the game port "bits" and buy a cheap USB joystick to transplant into the pedals. A cable is a cable and a potentiometer is a potentiometer. As I said the actual work involved would be no real biggy (many of you know what I do for a living). The question is, has anyone already tried this sort of thing, got any tips etc or should I just suck it and see.

expat,
Back on topic........
I'd say give it a shot. It is just like making a home built rudder pedal set using an old joystick..... minus the pain of fabricating the pedal mechanism.
Should work just fine.
If you are lucky, the potentiometer resistances in the old CH pedals and the new joystick are the same values... and it just will involve swapping wires. A little fast soldering.

Hi John,
It was so easy that I would recommend it to anyone. It cost me €19 in total for the joystick and an hour and a half and two cups of coffee to complete, also a single blister of Araldite as the new pots where slightly smaller. As with FSUIPC, just wish I had done it sooner
