A brand new street circuit, not tight and twisty like Monaco but fast and flowing, McLaren compare it to Hockenheim.. apparently.

A bit of luck could see anybody on the podium as the circuit is an unknown quantity... get guessing!

ENTRIES CLOSE AT 1200BST SATURDAY

Not predicting this till after FP. As for the hockenheim comparison, only in terms of wing levels. It's closer to turkey for layout and canada for what to expect. Lots of safety cars is whats predicted. Yay, Roll Eyes

Hmmmm. Certainly need to see some practice on friday before making a call on this one. But if its like hockenheim, turkey and canada, then a Hamilton win?, or maybe Massa?. However, Kimi might pull his finger out and shock us all!!

Noted some GP2 drivers raced here some weeks ago, either in single seaters or some sort of GT thing. Should be interesting also!

theres pleanty of onboards of the track. It's rather boring to be honest. Lots of high concrete walls, no real feel or atmosphere right now. Very American street course like. Best way to look into predictions is weather. Again if its hot it plays to ferrari, if its cooler then Mclaren. There isn't a differance between the two now in terms of pace, it's simply tyre use and reliabililty.

My predictions recently have been a bit poor so I’m taking a flyer on this, new track and all.

Hamilton
Massa
Alonso

I’ve lost faith in Kimi and I’m now reasonably sure Massa will win the title this year. Hamilton is just too inconsistent to be champion this year.

Well, tried to watch some of Free Practice, and despite the BT broadband advert happily working under the live feed, all i got was stuttering >: -  Not good for my umpty tens of pounds-a-month 8mb internet, supplied by....oh thats BT then....When the 10 day 'settling in' period is up  - in which your broadband 'will speed up and down until its finds a nice balance between speed and quality' mine has got slower Roll Eyes - Ill be bending BTs ear!!!!

Anyway, rant over.

Saw Glock have a spin, toyota, BMW, ferrari and the macs exchanging fastest times, with Alonso occasionly in there -  so still looks a little unpredictable despite FP not really meaning a lot!

Ill go -

Hamilton
Kimi
Kova

The track sucks. And from looking at vettels laps, its quicker to drive off the track than it is to use the racing line. Roll Eyes Kimi looks nowhere and once again its nothing between the mclarens and ferrari's. I shall wait for FP2 to make my picks.

Massa
Kimi
Lewis

I'm sticking by my dislike for the track, but, that final section has really grown on me. The fast double apex right, and the final right kink into the last left takes absolute precision and guts at full throttle.

The Ferrari's look hooked up. Massa looks very quick on his long runs, but a little erratic on the single lap flyers, Kimi is the opposite. Lewis looks quick on the single laps but has made some errors on the longer runs. Although its tough to judge mclarens overall pace as they've hardly run in comparison to most the teams.

I can't wait for F1 "whenever" to come out on the PS3, the Valencia track looks a real blast!
I'd imagine it's quite satisfying to get right..

I agree completely. I think Once I know they track it'll be easier to like it. I've been watching an onboard from Kubica this morning to just try and get a basic idea, and it's still a bit confusing in places.

A fine and reprimand for Ferrari, no penalty for Massa. Thank god. A perfect weekend otherwise.
Massa is absolutely on fire now, had he not blown up in hungary he'd be 5 or 6 points clear.
Vettel, hell of a race.

Massa drove a perfect race, watching the live timing he banged in some superb laps just before his second stop, hard to fault!. I expected more from 'the ice man' however. Lacklustre. I guess he may do better at spa, well he has to or surely ferrari are going to have to get behind massa now?

But yet another engine blow up - and a messed up pitstop which looked pretty nasty. Hardly perfect on his side of the garage Smiley

Hamilton drove well for second, his laps before the first stop were pretty impressve also!

Just deserts for the 'fans' i thought -  with Alonso going out on the first lap, the whistling at Hamilton wasnt particulary pleasant, nor the marshalls reactions when he spun in practice. Ive never felt unsafe at a motor race as i imagine you could at a football match, but spains the last place id want to go and watch a grand prix. Sad

No doubt there hatred can now be directed at Nakajima Grin

ITV! Missed Kubica comments in the press conference Roll Eyes On an advert break when 'the ice mans' engine let go , And James Allen saying stuff, Martin disagreeing, then Allen saying 'i totaly agree'. What a farce!

Martins gridwalk and chat to Schumacher was pure class though.

I agree again with you mate. Martins talk with schumi made up for that farce talk with Ryder a few weeks ago. Was quite funny to see the tension still there though between the two.
Did you also notice post race, Mark's comments towards Massa? Really giving him credit and basically refuting everything Ryder was saying, You could almost see Steve clenching his butt cheeks after every answer. Grin I think Ryder is the only one on the team now riding Hamilton for all he's worth, everyone else is starting to spread out their praise and interest. Maybe an attempt to win a job with the BBC? Huh
