Budapest this weekend.. Dusty, not many overtaking opportunities and also the scene of Damon Hill's (almost) greatest race when driving for Arrows and Jenson's only ever victory was here too.
Can Lewis make it a hat-trick? Can Kovy replicate his quali form into race pace? Can Ferrari bounce back from a couple of mediocre races?
Get 'em in lads!

this has to be the hardest race to predict. Ferrari are confident they have fixed the problem that caused their loss of pace the last two races (a suspension upgrade, which would partly explain Massa's spins) However Mclaren obviously are still upgrading parts, so having to go backwards wont have done much to help Ferrari. If its going to be hot, then tyre wise ferrari will have it, if it stays cooler, Mclaren should walk it. I'm going to predict it'll be boiling hot and go:
Massa
Lewis
Kimi
Edited friday Massa and Kimi swapped.

My words not his
It was an inexcusable race on his part, but the simple fact was, he just touched the throttle, and the car was backwards, that is not a case of, he was over doing the throttle pedal because it happend the moment he touched it. Which suggests to me, as bad as he was, there was something wrong with the setup somewhere.
Now Ferrari have gone to Jerez, set the car up as it was in France and piece by piece added on the parts they had used from France onwards, which is where the car started to go wrong. They found that it was the rear suspension that was causing a loss in speed and have now removed the offending pieces and at least found the car to be better balanced. Now they are having to play catch up having had to waste the last major test of the season on finding the problem. Which will mean friday practices will be spent evaluating new pieces as well as setting the cars up.

My heart say Lewis for a hat-trick, but my head says Ferrari will be back with a bang. Raikkonen needs results now if he's going to keep his title. So this week I'm going:
Raikkonen
Massa

Ok, please take my word for it! I have not seen the results of qualifying and I worked late last night and mowed the office this morning.
Hamilton
Raikkonen
Kovalinen
Or don't take my word for it, whatever.

Personally I am interested in the race with cautious optimism.
The one area Ferrari still have a big advantage is their starts. This was the case even in the rain at silverstone where Kimi managed to get a decent start but was blocked in by Kovi and Kubica was it? alowing Lewis to go off into turn one side by side with Kovi. So in tomorrows case I am hoping Massa can at least jump Kovi at the start. I think we are now at the point where he has to also go for the risky option into turn one if he does. Whats annoying is, once again Kimi is back down the grid, and on the dirty side of the track to go with it. So even with a jump if he can't clear a couple of cars he's going to be of no use. Kovi hasn't shown me yet he can bring home a 1-2 for Mclaren, and I think Lewis is lighter than both him and Massa, 1 lap heavier than Heikki and 2 to 3 more than Massa. Lewis needs heikki to end lap one in 2nd or it could be a longer race than he may like. But I think it's going to be tough for anyone to come close.
Safety cars might play a big part in this race.
This 3 week break cant come soon enough. Maybe Kimi will pull his head out of his backside again like last year.

Well to play the sympathy card, the heat index here in Wichita was reading about 103F (almost 40C) and I am an airport line guy and I am in the sun for 8 hours, and I work with 2 other walking and towing disasters, the CEO is avoidant of any human contact, and I can feel the heat of the ramp through the bottom of my shoes.
Should I get into my psychological problems (might scar you for life), or should we leave it there?
Or like I said, whatever.

O ya, and I've had to go through this week watching people fly to Oshkosh while I remain stranded in a concrete hell with angry Citation and Hawker pilots
Now I'm gonna go drink alone, yaaaaaa, with nobody else

Has to be one of the most boring races of the year so far (on the track) until the last three laps. I feel for Massa, that was a big kick in the slats. A few questions need to be asked about the fuel fires. Commentators saying it was down to the heat, not a problem in Turkey, Bahrain etc. Now a three week break, what am I going to do on a Sunday now............get a life I suppose

Thats about as cruel as it gets. And Mclaren should come away from that thanking their lucky stars. As Massa had that.
But oh well Hungary strikes again,
Should have been a Massa, Lewis, Kovi finish.
Really not happy about this.

I must admit, I let out an enormous YELP! when massa broke down and when Lewis had the flat. Better than coffee in the morning!

LOL,
So did James Allen. His reaction was a rather loud "YES" when Massa's engine blew up. Talk about being impartial.
He mentioned Lewis' name 36 times in the last 20 laps, And I think his statement that Lewis fought his way up to 6th was a little over the top considering, every place he made up was through guys pitting infront of him.
I thought Damon was brilliant this weekend, if somewhat a little boring at times. But overall, he brought some great insight to the race.
And his comment to Allen "thats why your not a race driver" You could just hear Allen's jaw hit the floor, and the directors bursting out laughing in the truck.
It was also nice to see him not bite on the constant Lewis love in. He was really quite impartial.
Still cant get over poor old Massa's ending, I think the only times I have ever felt worse for a driver, have been Damon breaking down a couple of laps from what I believe was his first? win, and also Schumachers engine going boom in 2006 at Japan.
The good news for the last 7 races is the fact, Mclaren and Ferrari seem to be right back where they were at the start of the season, one faster in quali the other in the race, but things are even closer.
Going to be so close at the end.

Felipe had it in the bag, shame he didn't complete the race.. it would have opened it up and made the season a bit more exciting.
Lewis should be thanking his lucky stars, he got lucky twice today..
Well done Timo, a podium well deserved.
Results will be up as soon as I can get the missus off the PC in the front room where the spreadsheet is saved.... though i can't see anyone getting many points from today

Ahhh i missed getting any predictions in due to moving house, and then waiting 6 days for BT to solve a line fault, then another week to get BT broadband(although currently its like BT dial up, and im not too happy considering its the top option with the fancy hub and all that
).......still, im not sure it would have made a difference, id a gone with a Hamilton win, massa second, and maybe kova third.....oh well!
I thought it was a good race however, unusual to see a ferrari go bang these days.....and another below par performance from the 'iceman', i thought anyway.
Noted no press conference! Just several minutes of DC Blunders on Lewis, Lewis and Lewis...sigh
