TrueSpace is now free.

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=71696&postcount=45

True Space IS a high end modelling program, on the par (reasonably) with 3DSMax.  Caligari was recenlty bought out by Microsoft, so this development puts matters into a new perspective.

The *worst* part that I've found is learning the freaking interface.  Having said this, I've seen TS work that is absolutely incredible.

Will it be supported by ACES in the form of FSNext SDK tools?  That is up for pure speculation.

However, for a modeller, it's a great program.

No.

Caligari's Truespace 7.6 is a powerful modelling program, comparable with 3DSMax.

AT THIS TIME, while Truespace can export to a direct x file, it is NOT, repeat NOT an FS-X compatible file.

MY GUESS/speculation - is that Truespace *may* in the future have some support from the ACES team, if only because Microsoft bought Caligari.  ACES have said that in the future, they will try to develop tools that are friendlier to other than 3DSMax users.

ANYTHING you read from me as to FS-X and Truespace is my own speculation.
