yes

and I suggest you also check out www.fsdeveloper.com

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

and keep in mind, a good plane can take months if not longer to make, even a year or more with a complicated design

you have to start somewhere and aircraft design is not a 'drag and drop' hobby. It does require 3D model building software like GMAX and 3DS

"GMAX and 3DS"?

"3DS"? Huh

And I was just about to "crack knuckles" and start sorting out what I already had.  Shocked

I don't know why ,If people knew how dificult this is ,even the most expert could take

several month to make a single model,Most of them join in groups ,one for texture other for

gauges ,this is not easy ,and its though to learn ,few moth ago I though FSX-SDK was tough

and absurn..I was Wrong ..
Today I realize its indeed more friendly with the animation ,the exportations are

instataniuos ,Not like the makemdl9  ,every exportation could take an hour ,and this is about prove and fail game ..
Practicly what you see inside Gmax its what you get ,Diferent than FS9-SDK witch you did have to export more to see if what you see (Animation) work fine in the game..and wait for hours for that ..
there is a beutiful Dialog between gmax and the plugins FSX-SDK having a better effects and more features..

What I don't like of FSX-SDK. its the vulnerability of the mdl format there is a freewaresoftware that is being use to hack designers model encripted under modeldef.xml.and it came in two diferent parts interior and exterior wich any VC can be use as if it

where a 2d panel, a 2d panel can be made in 2 hours while a VC can take at least a month

,Frtuanly the Team including Bill Leaming developt find  a way in a code wich the VCs will be useless without the plane Like an attachment  recently and I apply..very effective

I apply into the 707 VC this is what they will find if this VC in place in another aircraft

...

Unfortuanly this is a matter of time when some one find this vulnerability of FSX-SDK MDL models import the mdl and do anything they want with others work ,Like one those heroes call "airplane  fixers" wich for me are just pirates and Poor hackers uncapable to to doo their own aircraft or sceneries..

Nick meant OR, of course...

GMax is more or less a version of 3d Studio Max v4.1
Max6/7/8/9 are all supported for FSX model work as well.

Thanks Fr. Bill.  I was beginning to wonder how many more programs I was going to have to obtain.  Shocked

(Though, I'm sure there are a few more that I will find I need as I go along.)

You can always start to learn Gmax and get FSX deluxe later.

There is a lot to learn in basic model making so why not see how you get on for now. Wink

One of the things I was thinking about doing was to look over some of those abandonded "adopt a design" files and see if that will help generate a "learning curve".  I found a "Firefly" and downloaded it a while back.  It's model was don, it's texture looks close to done, no panel that I remeber, no VC, but that is something I can live without for now, I think it had a sound folder, but the .air file seemed to have needed some work (Sitting on the ground was like sitting in a blender.  I'm guessing tat's the .air file...) It also needed a effects package.

When I get all the separate parts all straightened out, I may use that as my "test bed" before I make my own "from the ground up" vehicle.

<sigh>  Not even a tiny little mention of Freeflight Design SHop, a 10 year old site dedicated to flightsim modelling ??

No mention of FSDS as a modelling tool?

SPANK ME!

(Alrots copilot can.. the rest of you back off,.... now   Cheesy)

I forgot Felix... its just been so long since it stuck my nose in a model I forgot all about you

http://www.freeflightdesign.com/

http://simviation.com/fsdesign_fsds.htm

hw does need to learn about the differences in FS9 and FSX though

SDK is needed but modeling skills need to be perfected first, then learn how SDK elements work with it
