Hallo,
How comes that alpha sometimes gives gleaming and sometimes transparent effect .
I save always dxt3 if I wish a gleam effect.
(fs9)

For exmpl.
Some repaints of K olssen F16 are transparant.
If i change the alpha from grey to white they are ok.
On other plaines the alpha grey gives a gleaming effect.

Thanks

Gleam has nothing to do with DXT3

It is controlled by the strength of the Alpha channel

Whether it is gleam or transparency is set into the model part.

Do you mean changing the amount of shine?

If that's what you mean you have to alter the alpha channel and really the base layer should be changed as well to maintain colour but it can be done easily.

Normally no.////but I have heard of a programme that supposedly does this.

Maybe someone here has knowledge of it.  It would need to change the material settings of the model.

For FS.9 DXT3 (compressed) gives smaller files for performance but unless the originals are very sharp it may look a little low res or soft..but it's quite adequate for most things.

For quality 32bit 888-8

FS.X handles textures differently.

Do a search for MDLC by Ivan Hsu (Archisoft). You will need the latest version.
