Have a look at this.

http://www.neoqb.com/fokker/

It is reported as 'payware' quality.
Many repaints for it are becoming available too.

You may have to download a few planes to try them out & if you don't like them ,remove them, like every one else has to do.
Good luck

Are you looking for FSX or FS2004?

What is the 'best' depends on what you want.  I like the Fokker Triplane but it's not very fast.  I think the DH-2 looks excellent but some people think it looks dorky.  I like the Albatross D series but some people think they're boring.  Some people think the Fokker D.7 is the best ever WW1 fighter but it doesn't excite me at all.  And I think the SPAD XIII is so ugly that I don't want to install it on my PC.

I suggest you browse the library, download anything that looks interesting to you, and try them all out.  Only you can decide what is 'best' for you.

Shockwave makes a package that includes the P51 and the Spitfire along with a couple of others.  Do a Google search and you should be able to find a site that you can see some pictures.  I have them and they did not mess up my sys.

Unfortunatly, downloading and installing is the only way to find out if the add-on is "good".  As far as installing an aircraft and messing up your FSX, as long as you follow the install instructions, usually in the "read me" that comes with most downloads, that should not be a problem.  If the aircraft doesn't work, simply delete it  (and any other files that were installed) from the simobjects/airplane folder, or any of the other folders that may have had items installed in them (if they cause problems).

Those are both WWII.  As a general rule, anything with a closed cockpit or more than two engines came after WWI.

Check Aircraft of World War One for a list of aircraft used in that era.

I'd search some out for you, but I don't know what sim you're flying.  Just know that there are several on SimV alone, and I bet there are others out there as well.

There's a really nice Bristol Figher MK1 on page 4-5 in the FSX vintage section. It's five parts, totaling over 70 mb, but it's well worth it... Cool

There's also a FS9 Bücker-131-B Jungmann package that works great in FSX/SP2. Ok, so it's not exactly a WW1 fighter, it's still a very nice biplane to fly... Wink

I posted a few screenshots of it here:

I would suggest browsing through the FSX vintage section, and downloading anything that interests you Wink
